Vol. 8. Issue 13
Dear Parents,

It has been a very emotional week for our school community. Losing Carlos has been a heartbreaking experience for everyone, and our sincere condolences go to his family and everyone touched by this loss. The community have shown incredible strength and unity, coming together to support Carlos’ family and to ensure that we celebrate the life of this wonderful young boy. Carlos will be remembered for his kindness and humour, and his unrelenting positivity and resilience. His life was too short but he made a positive impact on all those who met him and after the Easter break we will share how we plan to honour his memory with some memorial activities at school. At this emotional time, keep your loved ones close, appreciate the important things in life, and be attentive to how your children are processing their grief.

Thank you to everyone for your compassion and support.

Yours sincerely,
Niki Meehan
Director
NAISR Accreditation Visit
This week, we had a joint CIS/NEASC accreditation visit, which was the culmination of an 18-month self-review (audit) process to ensure that the school meets expectation across all aspects of educational and operational practice. It was an intense week for our staff team, but we are confident of a good outcome and constructive feedback. Please see our NAISR Strategic Plan which will inform our school development agenda over the next few years.   NAISR Strategic Plan >>>

NAE Virtual Music Festival
The Nord Anglia Education Virtual Music Festival was held online this past week. Well done to all of our students who took part in this fun event. Although we did not make it to the finals, our students received some wonderful feedback from the judges;
"Renee, you showed a lovely control of your instrument, with excellent articulation and phrasing."
"What a lovely tone and sound you make on your recorder Lakshita. I was impressed with your really high and really low notes (it’s so difficult to make them sound so good!).
"Meredith, the harmonics section was excellent, you really controlled the tuning well. Great contrast of dynamics and light/heavy playing. You have clearly worked very hard to memorise this challenging piece - a very noble effort."
"A very buoyant performance which was fully memorised - well done GaEun."

Visual Arts Exhibition
IB Visual Arts students are working incredibly hard to finalize their exhibition work ready for this year's show, which marks the end of their two year intensive Visual Arts course. This year's NAISR Visual Arts Exhibition will be open from 1-16 April in the foyer. Due to COVID regulations, we won't be holding a public viewing, but feel free to come and visit the show if you're in the building. The students will be posting a virtual tour of their artworks via the NAISR Visual Arts Instagram account, so if you can't see it in person you can enjoy it virtually.

Parent Academy
The next Parent Academy session will be held this Monday, 29 March. Hosted by Collège du Léman in Geneva, this session will be all about Supporting Your Children through Times of Transition. CAS Showcases
The last step of the CAS service learning experience is 'Demonstration'. This requires students to show what and how they learned and what they accomplished through demonstration and communication. On 15 March, the Class of 2021 individually and virtually presented their CAS Showcases and we are so proud of how well our senior students demonstrated their learning. As Kuzey, one of our senior students, explains, "CAS has been an experience that has significantly changed how I view the world, and the people around me. I’ve learned to adapt to situations, and pursue paths that I haven't been comfortable with before." Click the below link to read more about Kuzey's CAS experience.

Grade 3 Gardening Program
From Thursday, 1 April our Grade 3 class will begin their gardening program at Natuurstad Rotterdam. This program will run each Thursday up until June 10. Please make sure your child has a plastic bag, rain boots and a raincoat available at school on Thursdays.
Swimming Lessons
We were happy to see that swimming lessons could resume and parents will be updated further after the break.
G9/10 Nutrition Projects
The G9 & 10 HAPE class has been working on community action nutrition projects. Students researched an issue related to nutrition, interviewed or referred to an 'expert' in the field, identified solutions and created an action plan as to how to bring awareness to the issue. They then had the opportunity to share their findings and present to their classmates in any way they found most appropriate. They all did such an excellent job! A couple of wonderful examples can be viewed below.
