Important Snow Removal Information from
City of Denver and LCMA

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Denver and surrounding areas and is predicting snowfall of 15-25 inches.

The City of Denver's Snow Removal Ordinance requires that residents clear the sidewalks adjacent to their property, including ADA ramps and mailbox areas, within 24 hours after snow has stopped falling.

Businesses must clear their sidewalks and parking lots immediately after snow has stopped falling. Please have patience with our Lowry businesses during this storm - their snow removal contractors serve many customers and will likely be working 24/7 to remove the wet heavy snow from this massive storm.  The City of Denver, likewise, will be plowing around the clock to clear roads.

The City of Denver often doesn't get to side streets - like the streets in Lowry's neighborhood - until days after the storm.  Denver does not plow city-owned alleys.  You can track Denver's plows on their interactive map here.  The LCMA does not plow LCMA-owned alleys or privately owned streets.

If you need help clearing your sidewalk or driveway or shoveling your car out of its spot on the street or out of your alley-facing garage:

  • The City of Denver has a Snow Angels program where you can sign up online for volunteer snow removal help.  You can sign up for assistance or to volunteer on their website or by emailing SnowAngels@denvergov.org.
  • Post on NextDoor.  There are enterprising and industrious middle- and high-school students right here in Lowry offering snow removal services.
  • Ask a neighbor / check on your neighbors!  One of the things Lowry residents like best about our community is our neighbors - don't be afraid to reach out and ask for or offer to help.
If you are worried about a sidewalk in Lowry that is not shoveled, please call 311 or you can report the issue using the City of Denver's on-line form.  The City of Denver is reporting that neighborhood inspectors will be out and active after this storm.

Stay safe and warm this weekend, Lowry!
