It's been almost a year since our last newsletter and a lot has happened since then. All of us at the shop would like to sincerely thank you for your support over the past year, and we'd love to tell you what we've been up to.

Our New Shop!
We hauled our tools, workbenches, and a couple hundred typewriters four blocks south to 1735 East Passyunk Avenue. After a few months of hard work, we're excited to announce that we're settled in and fully operational at our new location. With double the space for working and storage, we're more equipped than ever to restore your typewriter. We're currently open by appointment only, so be sure to call or email before bringing your typewriter in.

We're Back to Selling Typewriters
Between the pandemic and the move to our new location, we had to temporarily suspend typewriter sales. Now that we're up and running at the new shop we've resumed sales! Our showroom is all set up and we have a great variety of typewriters available, from IBM Selectrics to mid-century Smith-Coronas to a WWII-era Olivetti. When you come in and pick out a typewriter that catches your eye, we'll perform a top-to-bottom restoration and resurrect the machine just for you.

A Memoriam for Steve Dade
It was a very somber day at the shop when we learned that Steve Dade had passed in January. Steve was a rubber craftsman we worked with for fabrication of new rubber parts, ranging from feed rollers to feet. If you've had a typewriter restored by us in the past, it is very likely that some of Steve's parts are in your machine. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the opportunity of working with Steve. He was a straight talker who was always patient with our hour-long phone calls discussing specific parts and measurements and was knowledgeable and confident in his work. His craftsmanship has been a crucial part of our shop growing to where we're at today. Above all else, Steve was a friend and a part of the Philly Typewriter family. There’s no replacing him and we will miss him dearly.
