Our 2020 Annual Report is now available!

The 2020 ExCITe Center Annual Report is now available! Take a look at the accomplishments of the faculty, staff, and students within the ExCITe Community throughout the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Congratulations to Tammy Ogunranti for winning the 2021 Cooperative Education Award!

Tammy was selected as one of seven outstanding winners of the 2021 Cooperative Education Award. This is the University's highest recognition for students participating in the cooperative education program. Tammy was the Lead Engineering Project Co-op in the ILLEST Lab. We are so glad and lucky to have had her on our team! 🎉
Huge thanks to Daniel Rohll (right), Gezani Artis (center), Sam Lindner (left) — three students from the University of Pennsylvania who raised over $3,000 to provide web cameras and headsets for the Digital Navigator Program! 💻👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🎧

Fifty headsets were provided to Access Centers so that children could use their Chromebooks without the sound interfering with each other. The other headsets and web cameras will be provided with the desktops we distribute to adult learners, job seekers, veterans, and senior citizens in West Philadelphia.

New ILLEST Lab and People's Emergency Center Partnership

The ILLEST Lab hopes to provide opportunities for the students in CSEA to use the STEAM skills they learned and apply them in hands-on internships. We have partnered with People’s Emergency Center (PEC) in their Center for Digital Inclusion and Technology program for an internship opportunity for the students who are interested. PEC is an organization in West Philadelphia with a mission to “nurture families, strengthen neighborhoods and drive change.”

Some skills that the students will gain and practice during the internship include: computer tech familiarity (Windows tools, Video conference software, online research, etc.), record-keeping for attendance and reporting, and also brainstorming ideas for marketing and recruitment (using graphic design concepts, market research, etc.), troubleshoot and problem solve any technical issues ad hoc. Along with the technical skills, the students will also be able to build upon their communication skills with the community of adults/seniors who attend the program. We are hoping for this internship opportunity to continue for more students in the upcoming year, and also this partnership with PEC to continue.
"Sons of Ra" is an EGS-born award winning competitive tower defense game by indie studio Pharaoh Hound Games and it will be released on April 15!
Make sure to add it to your wishlist here.
