" The sun was warm, but the wind was chill. You know how it is with an April day". ~ Robert Frost

A reminder that we have adjusted hours for the Easter long weekend. We feel it is important to allow our staff to have the opportunity to take time off to rest and celebrate holidays with their families, especially in these challenging times when family is so important and our bubbles so small.

Good Friday, April 2nd:      store closed
Saturday, April 3rd :           10am - 5pm
Eater Sunday, April 4th:     store closed
Easter Monday, April 5th:  10am - 5pm

We hope you each get a chance to enjoy the long weekend and all the newly emerging spring beauty! We encourage you to follow Dr. Henry's recommended guidelines and celebrate within your bubble.

This year marks the 51st anniversary of Earth Day!

According to EarthDay.org, Americans were consuming vast amounts of leaded gas through massive automobile usage. Industry belched out smoke and sludge with little fear of the consequences from either the law or bad press. Air pollution was commonly accepted as the smell of prosperity. At that time, most of America remained largely oblivious to environmental concerns and how a polluted environment threatens human health.

US Senator Gaylord Nelson, a junior senator from Wisconsin, who had long been concerned with the deteriorating environment of the USA as well as an oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, declared the very first Earth Day celebration on April 22, 1970.

By 1990, Earth Day had become global. Today, Earth Day is widely recognized by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behaviour and create global, national, and local policy changes.

At West Coast Refill we feel that Earth Day should be every day! We want to help make it as easy as possible for everyone in our community to create new earth conscious habits. That's why we will be offering 10% off everything in store, on line or in person, from April 21st - 23rd.  If ordering online for pick up or delivery you can use the coupon code EARTHDAY at check out.

Please register directly with Makoha Farms HERE.

Want to know more about the folk at Makoha Farm? In their own words, "Makoha Farm is owned and operated by Amy & Calum. We began our farming journey in 2019 on 0.6 acres of leased land on Cordova Bay Ridge in Victoria BC. At Makoha, we want our love of good food to come across in what we grow: providing tasty, healthy, and top quality produce. It is important to us that while we do this, we are also looking after the earth and our community. We grow a diversity of vegetable crops and have quickly fallen in love with growing flowers for cut arrangements - and of course the bees!"
