This week, the Alabama House of Representatives passed House Joint Resolution (HJR) 72It now moves on to the Alabama Senate. 

This resolution:

  • Commends Alabama's educators for their tremendous efforts to deliver instruction during the pandemic
  • Encourages the State Department of Education (ALSDE) to administer the ACAP state assessment this spring in order to understand the impact of the pandemic on student learning and equitably allocate resources to address learning gaps
  • Encourages ALSDE  to waive all accountability indicators for the 2020-2021 school year, including  the state A-F report card and designating schools as failing to 

A+ supports this measure as a positive step toward understanding the impact of the pandemic on students and encouraging the state to address the needs of schools equitably during this time.
