Hi, all, and happy Thursday!

It was great to see some of you at the Katrina Foley phonebank yesterday! How heartening to run into folks who phonebanked with me in the months leading up to November's elections, and also new folks--many of whom found me on TikTok.

It confirms to me that our power is not only maintaining, but building. And it makes me very, very happy.

On that note, I will be doing my new, free Democracy 101 workshop, which is all about calling our reps and other ways to leverage our power between elections, on Tuesday of next week at 9AM PST/12 EST. All are welcome! Sign up here.

OK. Let's do this one more time.

Call Your Senators
(find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent contacting you to ask the Senator to support S. 1 when it comes to the floor. Every voter—regardless of zip code, race, ethnicity, or disability—should have the same access to the ballot box, and the For the People Act includes key reforms that make this possible. [If Dem add] And I very much support abolishing the filibuster to get it done. [H/T]

I also support the confirmation of both Xavier Becerra and Deb Haaland, and hope they get confirmed  soon so they can go to work helping Americans.

Finally, I support a $15 dollar an hour minimum wage. The minimum wage hasn't been raised since 2009. That's INSANE. No one should be asked to try to live on $7.25 an hour. Please fight for legislation raising the wage to get passed, and soon. Thanks.

Call Your House Member

(find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling for a couple of reasons today:

First, how did the Congressmember vote on HR1 yesterday? [If they supported, thank. If they didn't tell them you will never forget that they voted against democracy].

Next, I strongly support HR8, the Universal Background Check bill that a majority of Americans want to see passed. We have to get our gun problem under control before this country becomes unlivable for our kids. Will the Congressmember support it?
Extra Credit
A Center for Biological Diversity investigation just revealed that more than 1,700 pets were reported dead after wearing Seresto-brand flea collars using toxic chemicals. Worse, according to documents CBD obtained, the Environmental Protection Agency got more than 75,000 incident reports related to the collars, including almost 1,000 involving human harm — but did nothing.

Please put in a quick call to the Acting EPA Administrator at 202-564-4700 and say:

"Hi, I'm calling about the investigation revealing that more than 1,700 pets have been killed--and 1000 humans sickened--by the chemicals in Seresto-brand flea collars. It seems the EPA has gotten over 75,000 reports related to these collars but done nothing. This is crazy. These collars and the chemicals they contain need to be taken off the market now. Thanks."

It would be a personal favor to me if you would tweet the below (in yellow), no matter where you live. (Or RT my tweet here). We are desperately trying to stop oil drilling near children's homes and schools, and we're having a tweetstorm to that end today. Remember, what happens in CA tends to then happen elsewhere, too, so if we win here we'll win in your state next!

Frontline communities need a citywide phase-out of oil drilling! With COVID-19, this is an urgent health issue. @mhdcd8 @cmgilcedillo @BobBlumenfield @mridleythomas @CD12LA

RESISTBOT Text
(New to Resistbot? Go here)
[to your Senators] [H/T]

Hi, I'm writing as a constituent to say that I want the Senate to pass a stimulus bill that fights hunger. This can be done by continuing the increase in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits by 15 percent, expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit to $3,000 per child ($3,600 for children under 6), which would reduce child poverty by at least 50%, providing an additional $900 million for The Emergency Food Assistance Program, extending and expanding funding and flexibility for Child Nutrition programs like Pandemic EBT, and investing $543 million in our nation's charitable food system.

I'm counting on the Senator to prioritize immediate help for the nearly 50 million people facing hunger in the next relief package. Thanks.
OK.
Talk tomorrow!
