Dear  <<First Name>>,

Eden Rivers Trust's 25 in 25 Anniversary Appeal

Our rivers are precious, and as a supporter of Eden Rivers Trust you know this more than most.

In our 25th anniversary year, if you are able to, we are asking you to give £25 (or whatever you can afford) to help us do even more
over the next 25 years to improve and protect the rivers we all love.

The River Eden has been there for us all during the Covid pandemic, a reassuring presence when our daily lives were anything but normal.
Throughout last year's glorious spring and summer when we couldn’t see our siblings, grandchildren, parents and our best friends; we could still get out to the river, be soothed by the flow of water and take pleasure in watching familiar wildlife along its length.

Yet the UK’s rivers are under greater pressure than ever—and the Eden and its tributaries are no different.

For 25 years, Eden Rivers Trust has shown how we can improve our river; from water-friendly farming by the Petteril and river restoration along the Lyvennet and Leith, to flood alleviation at Thacka Beck and along the Fellside. We have created and protected havens for wildlife, ensured that our precious fresh water is clean and safe for everyone and spread the word about healthy rivers far and wide to thousands of our fellow Cumbrians.

However, our rivers are still under threat.

We know that 21% of Eden’s official waterbodies are still classed as poor or bad in 2021.

Many are at risk from agricultural pollution and from the demands of a growing population.
Thanks to climate change, modified river channels with disconnected flood plains are exacerbating the flooding we experience from ever more frequent storms.
We have a plan, but we need your help to make it happen.

It’s time to give back to Eden’s rivers.

We know the last 12 months have been exceptionally challenging for everyone.
If you are able to, please consider making a donation to Eden Rivers Trust.

Thank you.
