The Future of Canada Water Agency
In anticipation of the upcoming major transformation of water law and governance in Canada,
this first jointly organized conference is a unique opportunity to discuss the existing obstacles and opportunities surrounding the creation of this federal agency. Four themes will be discussed: the legal considerations of Canadian water governance, international experiences in water governance, and sectoral approaches to the protection of water resources.
In celebration of World Water Day on March 22nd, and its theme Diversity Around Water,
we hope this conference will be inspired by the interdisciplinary nature of the issues at stake and the multiplicity of perspectives it generates. More Information

USask model for predicting mountain snowpack provides clearer picture of spring runoff, impacts of climate change
After decades of research, a new model was developed by University of Saskatchewan (USask) researchers that for the first time successfully predicted mountain snowpack with a high degree of accuracy and detail—information of critical importance for water management, agriculture, mining, recreation, and flood forecasting worldwide. Snow cover in the mountains is the principal driver of spring runoff. Full Article

Towards a Greener, Better World with Jeffrey Sachs: A New Mindset for a New Millenium
World-renowned economist Dr. Jeffrey Sachs believes humanity can leap forward with science and technology – but only if we drop our primeval addiction to war and conflict. We can create new vaccines in less than a year or measure water below ground using satellites in spaces, but political institutions are still locked in a 50,000-year-old "Us vs. Them" mindset that prevents global cooperation and advancement. With a broader, more inclusive worldview, Dr. Sachs says, we can create a more sustainable planet. >> listen here
