FEBRUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Addie Scott (Day Program)
Sycamore High School
Addie has done really well this semester. She has been pushing herself and working above expectations on projects. Many teachers have commented on her progress this semester, and they have nothing but wonderful things to say!
Tia Gentz (Remote Program)
Rochelle Township High School
Tia has been working hard all semester and is earning all high marks. She overcame the difficulty of remote learning that she had before and has been very focused on the goal of graduation!
What's happening in Ms. Luoma's classroom?
In US History, Ms. Luoma's students created posters about different aspects of the 1920s such as Alcatraz, Mickey Mouse, cars, and Coney Island. They are now learning about the Great Depression to understand what life was like and relate it to the economic issues of the pandemic. Her English classes just created their own fairy tales, and her reading classes have started reading, "Touch Spirit Bear", by Ben Mikaelsen. They will be creating their own totem poles just like the main character before Spring Break.
FOODS CLASS WITH MS. JOHNSON
Ms. Johnson’s Foods class has kicked off again!
She found a way during the pandemic to have the students prepare the recipes by having them pack their ingredients and make the recipes at home after demonstrating them at school.
Below our students are helping demonstrate
how to make Rice Krispie Treats!
3-D Art Projects
During the month of February, Art students created 3-D letters or shapes out of poster board, cups and glue backed tape. The students worked diligently and were very supportive of each other during the entire process.
