Planned Power Outage on the Main Campus March 29 - March 30
Due to routine maintenance, there will be a scheduled power outage on the FCC Main Campus on March 29 and March 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are no classes scheduled on these two days.
On Monday, March 29, power will be turned off for Annapolis Hall (A), Athletic Center (D), Visual and Performing Arts Center (F), Gambrill Hall (G), Linganore Hall (H), and Jefferson Hall (J). On Tuesday, March 30, power will be turned off for Braddock Hall (B), Catoctin Hall (C), the Conference Center (E), the Student Center (H), the Children's Center (M), the Parking Deck, and the Baseball building.
Pandemic Resource Update Links
If you missed the Pandemic Resource Update event last month, the closed-captioned recordings are now available on YouTube. The recordings include information on evictions, utility assistance, health services, family resources, rental assistance, legal services, family resources, mental health resources, and emergency needs. The event is available in English here and Spanish here. The Pandemic Resource Update was sponsored by the FCC Paralegal Program and community partners.
Point Foundation Community College Scholarship
LGBTQ students enrolled in community college for fall 2021 can apply for $2,000 to $4,800 in financial awards from the Point Foundation. Online applications are accepted between March 1 and May 3, 2021. For more information, click here.
FAFSA Assistance
The priority deadline for submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Maryland residents was March 1, 2021. However, it is not too late to submit the FAFSA for consideration of Federal Student Aid (FSA) including the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Student Loans. If students need assistance with their FAFSA, they can email financialaid@frederick.edu or call (301) 846-2620 to schedule a virtual appointment with the FCC Financial Aid Office.
MSFAA Assistance
Students who are undocumented can still complete the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) for consideration of certain campus-based state financial aid programs such as the Maryland Part-Time Grant (MDPTG) or Campus-Based Educational Assistance Grant (CBEAG). If students need assistance with their MSFAA, they can email Shelby Metzgar, FCC Assistant Director for Financial Aid Services and Outreach, at smetzgar@frederick.edu.
Biotechnical and Computerized Accounting Apprenticeships
FCC currently has opportunities available for biotechnical and computerized accounting apprenticeships. In these apprenticeships, individuals work as paid employees while their employers pay for tuition, books, and fees to attend FCC and graduate with a degree or certification. Become an FCC Student Athlete
The Frederick Community College men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and women’s softball teams are looking to add players this semester. If you'd like to continue to develop your athletic skillset and compete at the next level, this is your opportunity.
Who is eligible?
All students who are in good academic standing, enrolled in at least one credit as of January 21, 2021, and will be enrolled in at least 12 credits by the date of each team’s first contest are eligible to try out for the team.

Women’s soccer: Head Coach Joachim Walker, jowalker@frederick.edu. The Cougars women’s soccer team is coming off a stellar season in which they achieved NJCAA All-Academic honors and advanced to the Region XX, DI Championship. First Contest: April 3
Men’s soccer: Head Coach John LaRocca, jlarocca@frederick.edu. The 2016 Maryland JUCO Coach of the Year leads the team which was nationally ranked in 2018 and 2019. First Contest: April 3

FCC Foundation Scholarships
The FCC Foundation fall 2021 scholarship application will open on April 1, 2021.
The applications for Building Trades Scholarships, Continuing Education courses (William H. and Marianne E. Browning Memorial Scholarship), and the Hospitality, Culinary and Tourism Institute (HCTI) Scholarships will temporarily close on March 1, 2021 in order to prepare the system for the fall 2021 scholarship application window.
All applications will be available on April 1, 2021.
2021-2022 Community Foundation Scholarship Application Information
All FCC students are encouraged to apply for Community Foundation of Frederick County scholarships. The application period is open from March 1 until March 31, 2021. Some scholarships do not consider financial need. Learn more here.
Every 30 Seconds…A Human Trafficking Forum Virtual Event
Monday, March 8, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Join us in this virtual forum to learn more about human trafficking and how you can take action to prevent it in your community. Women to Women CORE Mentoring Program
In this program, we match young women between the ages of 18 and 35 with a more experienced mentor who has walked in similar shoes. The pair works together one-on-one and joins classmates monthly to participate and share in workshops on personal finance, relationships, strength assessment, and more. In the four-week series of Beginning Mindfulness, students learn actionable, practical ways to manage stress, build resilience, and gain tools to move forward more confidently into adulthood and to incorporate the practices of mindfulness into daily life. Register here.

Spring Semester Goodie Bags
March 8 & 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and March 11, 5 to 7 p.m.
The Center for Student Engagement will be distributing goodie bags in front of the Student Center (H Building) to students, faculty, and staff (while they last) on March 8, 9, and 11. Bags will include an FCC scarf, bottled water, snacks, and other fun items. Distribution will be contact-free and in a drive-through format. Please wear a mask, drive up to the curb, and staff members will put a goodie bag in your car. Questions can be emailed to StudentEngagement@frederick.edu.

May 2021 Graduates
Students who anticipate completing the requirements for an associate degree or certificate are required to apply for graduation through the PeopleSoft Student Center or via the Graduation Application Form. All students need to submit a graduation application to be awarded a credential. Students need to use the graduation application form if applying for multiple credentials and/or a degree that is not their current major.
