St David's Minister's Missive

Dear St David's Church Family💒

How wonderful it was to be able to sing again in church! Even with masks on. A huge thank you to Milton and Ron, who led us in our singing last week and we look forward to welcoming Kim back this Sunday.

This Sunday 7th March is the 3rd Sunday in Lent and it is our Communion Sunday. Please find the liturgy attached. If you are joining us at home, you might like to get some bread and juice ready for the communion.

Lent 3 Year B 7th March 2021

Here are the things that I would like to pass on to you this week:

Sound the Alarm for Climate Change! - 11th March at 11am on the steps of St David's -

Please join us as we join faith communities from around the world as part of a new multi-faith event calling for bold and immediate action on the climate crisis.

This will be the biggest-ever global faith-based Day of Action for the Climate. The theme of the day is Sacred People, Sacred Earth. Faith communities around the world have been asked to ‘sound the alarm’ for the climate and call for climate justice as we try to get our economies going in the wake of COVID.

In Australia the actions are being co-ordinated by the Australian Religious Response to Climate Change. There is detailed information HERE about what the Australian Government is being asked to commit to
At St David's we will be ringing the church bell and Ron Brown will be reading a statement. I will be livestreaming to our Facebook page.

Lent devotional ideas: Please see previous week's missive for information on Lent Event and the Common Grace Lent series. There are also Lent reflection booklets at the back of the church, which can also be mailed to you.

This week's prayer is by Steve Garnass-Holmes - 'Temple':

God, give me courage to destroy
the sacred structures,
so familiar and safe,
that sustain my habits and beliefs
and protect my benefit,
while sacrifices are made
on my behalf (not my life, not my blood).

Give me the audacity to overturn
the tables of racism,
to drive out the moneychangers
of privilege and entitlement.
Give me courage to disrupt
my worship of myself,
the temple of my own well-being,
so the body of my self-giving
may be raised.
Give me courage to allow you
to tear down and raise up
even me

Amen

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, whether physically or via our live-stream.

Wherever you are and whoever you are, you are welcome in this place.

May God's light shine in us and through us🌟

With love, hope and peace

Joy💒
