It was plainly obvious that I had to dedicate a record to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I have listened to his music from an early age, although I only truly engaged with his work much later, listening over and over to his piano concertos as an adult. They resonated so very powerfully within my soul, like love sparks!
Mozart stands out as truly unique in the history of music, for no other composer has combined such outstanding genius with such a beautiful, radiant soul. That of a child, still pure and luminous, despite life’s trials and tribulations.
His music has something of everything: Natural grace, floral elegance, a shyly dawning sun in spring, bounteous, bright, light-hearted energy, like a sprinkler in summer. Wistfulness, or deep yet never burdensome sorrow. And such simplicity, such transparent perfection! His music caresses, forgives, inspires, beckoning us into a whirlpool of heady vitality, ever wielding delicacy, never brute force. It offers up the full beauty of its pure, dainty soul, with never a shadow of evil.
His works are like love letters posted from the past. Letters penned with the sincerity of a child who readily confides in his mother, who never wanted to grow up.
I love Mozart’s music so much! How to describe this love? How to explain this marvelling sensation verging on pain that his music stirs within my soul? And how to express my endless gratitude for this person who devoted his entire life to creating these never-fading gems! This love is but a pale reflection of his own, spilling forth from his munificent offerings to us.
