Andrew O’Hagan Wins 2020 Los Angeles Times-Christopher Isherwood Prize
We are delighted to announce that the 2020 LA Times-Christopher Isherwood Prize has been awarded to Andrew O’Hagan for his exuberant and heartbreaking novel Mayflies. “In keeping with the legacy of Christopher Isherwood, Mayflies is both deeply personal and universal,” said returning judge Diana Wagman. “In one seminal night and one all-encompassing friendship, Andrew O’Hagan captures youth and joy and the possibilities in the shimmering future. And then 30 years later, the power of the past struggles against the question of free will.” The prize ceremony on April 16 will launch this year’s virtual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, April 17-23. Heartfelt thanks to this year's judges, Isabel Fonseca, Domingo Martinez, Marion Elizabeth Rodgers, and Diana Wagman. Click here to pre-order a copy of Mayflies in the US (out 5/18/2021).
