The purpose of this award shall be to honor and recognize an untenured, tenure-track faculty member in the College of Agricultural Sciences, whose research involves the social or human sciences, for the best refereed article published in a scholarly journal in the previous two years.

RAIN is a source of competitive funds for researchers within the College of Agricultural Sciences who are prepared to take the next steps in transitioning technologies generated through their research to commercialization. Concept notes are strongly recommended but not required.

The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who are excelling in research and scholarly accomplishments. These may include laboratory research and analysis, journal article publication, paper/poster/abstract presentations at conferences, and grant funding.

The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who are excelling in classroom teaching. This may include teaching/co-teaching undergraduate level courses, assisting faculty in teaching graduate level courses, preparing course materials, and grading of tests and papers.

Evans Family Award for Graduate Student Extension Achievement
The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who are excelling in extension educational programming. This may include working with extension educators, specialists, and contributions to extension program development, program delivery, and evaluation, and assisting in Extension workshops/training, etc.

2021 Apes Valentes Graduate Student Award
The Penn State Center for Pollinator Research is seeking graduate student applicants to support student-led projects in pollinator biology and health. Research, extension, education and/or outreach projects related to all aspects of pollinator biology and health are encouraged. Students from non-biology backgrounds that would like to develop artistic or other scholarly works related to pollinators to be disseminated to the public are also encouraged to apply.

This webinar will provide information on the eligibility, goals and objectives of the ALE and OCPD priority areas within AFRI’s Education and Workforce Development RFA. Briefly, ALE seeks proposals to provide a programmatic review of NIFA’s Agricultural Literacy and Workforce Development portfolio while OCPD seeks proposals to develop, pilot, and maintain mechanisms that will track the impacts of NIFA's investment on individual career development beyond their participation in a NIFA-supported scholarship or fellowship program.

The AWT program area seeks to develop a technology- and data-savvy workforce, ready for the field and industrial jobs in the food and agricultural sector. Through the development of new workforce training programs, or the expansion, improvement, or renewal of existing workforce training programs at community, junior, and technical colleges/institutes, this program will expand job-based, experiential learning opportunities for students to enable a work-ready labor force for 21st century agricultural jobs.

The NSF CAREER program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. An NSF CAREER Proposal Workshop focused on engineering will be held virtually on April 21 – April 23, 2021. The objective of the 2021 NSF ENG Directorate Workshop is to introduce junior faculty who are interested in submitting NSF CAREER proposals to the Directorate for Engineering. The workshop aims to provide individuals with proposal development insights and a forum in which they can interact with NSF program directors and recent NSF CAREER awardees. Registration is required.

Regular Funding Opportunities
If you are planning to submit a proposal for external funding, please complete the Office of Grants and Contracts Notice of Intent at least 3 weeks prior to the sponsor deadline. A proposal preparation and deadline timeline was developed with a team of faculty, the Associate Dean for Research and the OGC. Please prepare your grant in concert with your OGC research administrator and in accordance with the proposal submission timeline so that we may meet PSU standards and sponsor deadlines in a timely manner, and submit a competitive and compliant grant proposal.
