Upcoming Event 1: NavDash 2, Garvey Park

Sunday 14th March

Garvey Park, Ascot

Garvey Park is a mix of parkland and some more vegetated areas with trees. The map is bordered on two sides by the Swan River and also includes a couple of lakes. On the two hard courses you may traverse some scratchy vegetation, so leg covering would be appropriate if you want to avoid blemishes.  There are picnic tables, shady areas and a cafe where you can get your morning coffee and cake. Note that the OWA AGM will take place after this event.

NavDash events have courses to suit all abilities and it's a great way to continue orienteering after the Metro Series. There is more information on NavDash events on the OWA website.

Courses: Hard Long 3.3km straight line (about 4km), Hard Short 2.4km straight line (about 2.7km), and Easy 2.1km straight line (about 2.2km).
Pre-enter via Eventor (entries close at 23:59pm on Friday 12th March). If you do not have an Eventor account, click on ‘Create Account’ and follow the prompts.
Registration on the day at the event is available if necessary.  Even groups can enter through Eventor. Make sure you arrive in plenty of time.
Bring: your SI card if you have one, or borrow one at the event. Also bring sunscreen, hat, a water bottle and leg covering if doing the longer courses.
On the day registration: 9:00 - 10:30am.
Instruction available: 9:00 - 10:00am.
Start times: 9:30 - 11.00am.
Courses close: 11:30am.

OWA Annual General Meeting

Sunday 14th March

Garvey Park, Ascot

The OWA Annual General Meeting will commence as soon as possible after the Garvey Park NavDash event.
This is an opportunity to raise issues of concern or interest, to contribute to discussion on these issues, and to choose who will run the Association for the coming year. Please be there to have your say and/or to offer your services!

Here is the Notice of the 2021 Annual General Meeting.
Relevant documentation for the meeting is available on the OWA website. Included are:
Nomination form for Council positions;
AGM agenda;
Financial statements;
Minutes from the 2020 AGM;
And lots more.
If you are interested in standing for a Council position you should download and complete the nomination form (link above) and return it to oawa.secretary@gmail.com by Wednesday 10th March.

If you don't feel ready to be a Council member at the moment, please consider offering your services at a club level. Clubs will be holding their AGMs in the coming weeks. It's a great way to get to know everyone and find out how everything is organised.

Check that you have renewed your membership so you can have your say.  Only current Full Members have voting rights.
