Principal Corner

Dear Niwot Elementary Families,

Don't forget to sign up for Project Launch!  This is the final week to do so, as the deadline to register is Friday, March 12th. Through Project Launch, students can strengthen their reading and math skills over the summer in a fun and friendly environment. This program will take place June 7-July 1, Monday-Thursday, at Burlington Elementary (NES students and BES students combine at this site). This is a full-day program from 8:30am-3:30pm, transportation provided, breakfast/lunch/snack provided and this is available to families at no cost. Families need to commit to attending the entire time (June 7-July 1, Monday-Thursday) and please know that the instruction is designed for students that could benefit from extra support. If you are interested please contact the office or your teaacher for a registration form.

We had a great time celebrating our love of reading during Read Across America week. A big thank you to our 5th grade Leadership Team, Mrs. Yonker, and Mrs. Chen for organizing all the fun. We enjoyed D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) time each day, dressing up as our favorite book characters, and sharing our Poem in a Pocket.

A reminder to access Infinite Campus to view your child(s) second trimester report card. Please contact the office if you need help with this.

Thanks for your support. Please let me know how I can support you.

Sincerely,

Nancy Pitz

TALKING TO CHILDREN ABOUT RACE

We are excited to have Dr. Rosemarie Allen join SVVSD staff and families for several evenings in March to engage us in a speaker series about race. Her work is aligned with our priority to continue to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion in our schools. More information about these events can be found at https://www.erieco.gov/1753/Community-Conversations

March 12th - Project Launch Registration Deadline

March 14th - Spring Forward - Daylight Savings Time Begins

March 22nd-26th - No School (Spring Break)
Our March Character Trait of the Month is Positive Attitude! Thank you for reinforcing, discussing and celebrating this important trait at home.
If your child is having a hard time through this transition or struggling with making friends, handling big emotions, or overcoming school challenges and you would like them to receive school counseling support please let us know by filling out this form. We are available to safely meet with kids individually and we are available to provide you support by phone or Webex video call.
Nutrition Services is partnering with the Denver Broncos and Dairy Max to help encourage students to grab a healthy meal on Fridays. Again, school meals are at no cost through the end of the year for any child 1-18 years.

Contest is similar to "Willy Wonka" and finding a "Golden Ticket" in one meal bag at all of our Friday curbside meal sites. If the student finds the winning ticket, they need to turn it into the school where they picked up their meal from. They will win 1 of 5 Broncos signed merchandise.  It should be fun. We are running the contest each Friday (only) at those meal  sites through 3/19/2021.
