Exciting News!
This newsletter has been in partial form for a long time as so many things were changing and life was racing, but I am so excited to announce that we have a new campus minister. Amy Kendall joined us here in Tucson on August 1st. Already she has been such a blessing to me and our students. I look forward to sharing more about her in the coming weeks and letting her share about her plans for our campus ministry. In the meantime, I thought it would be great to send out a few reflections on our last semester as we move with great hope into the fall.
In Him,
Jessica Knapp

Creative ways to be socially connected
The Spring semester was all about being creative and pivoting when necessary. Our student leaders hosted the spring retreat in the snow, held online events, and even some in-person events outdoors. We enjoyed connecting with new students.

Messages from our student leaders
With Jessica on maternity leave during the first half of the spring semester, our student leaders did a great job planning and hosting Friday night events and small group bible studies. We had our alum Joe Cooper jump in to teach Encounter on Wednesday nights and shepherd the group. Our student leaders had the opportunity to plan and execute an event to reach their peers. I asked them to share a little bit about their experience and their thoughts on being a student leader for A4C. Here are their own words:
From Sam: I have learned in A4C this semester that sometimes you are not seeing the whole picture of things. Being an A4C leader has changed my perspective on a life with God and enjoying everyone's happy faces has allowed me to see the bright sides of it all. I have managed to enjoy setting up our events this semester as well as hanging out with my fellow leaders and students. I enjoy watching the transformation of the people who come and go from A4C. The lessons fill you with a sense of understanding and love spiritually and physically. This is something that will always be meaningful to me.
From Andrew: I've really enjoyed getting to go through the book of James with my small group. I know the book of James can be difficult to read through on your own so it's been really nice to get a better understanding as well as knowing the other people in my small group are getting that as well. I'm glad that we have the resources such as right now media and zoom to make this possible, especially in a socially distanced time. All this comes together to allow people to study the Bible with other Christians where they may not have been able to otherwise, allowing them to grow in their faith.
From Alex: A4C has been great this semester. I helped plan an AntiValentine's party with creative decorations and delicious food. We all had fun going mini-golfing and playing in the arcade. Creating fun memories and relationships with one another is an important part of what we do to help meet new students, friends of our friends.

Summer Hangouts
This summer was a chance to slowly get used to hanging out in person once again. Many of us went up to the Mount Graham Bible Camp as staff and shared with the teens and pre-teens who were campers. We met weekly to enjoy the Pepperdine Harbor lectures and talk about having a resilient faith. Finally, we got to know our new campus minister when she moved to town in August. It has been a great summer and we are looking forward to the fall and our classes starting!
