Spring 2021 Vegetable Seedling Distribution: Monday, May 31, 2021

Get Growing, Victoria is a free food seedlings distribution program that was created in 2020. The City grows vegetable seedlings and then works in partnership with community and non-profit organizations to distribute food seedlings in the Spring and the Summer to the community! The NPNA participated in this program in 2020, and we're excited to be a part of it again this year.

The project prioritizes support for people who have been disproportionally impacted by the pandemic and want to grow food at home, but that may be facing barriers to access to food plants and garden materials, or are facing barriers to access fresh, locally grown food.

That may include, but is not limited to, those who have experienced loss of work, Indigenous people, people who are immunocompromised, people with disabilities, seniors, at-risk youth, families in need, and/or people who self-identify as food insecure.

In addition to seedlings, there will be leaf mulch, compost, and wood chips for pick up.

For more information visit here.

If you would like to receive seedlings please complete this survey!

Spring vegetable seedling distribution will take place at Franklin Green on Monday, May 31, 2021 from 9am-3pm

City requesting feedback on proposed changes to neighbourhood boundaries
On February 4, 2021 Victoria City Council held a workshop regarding proposed changes to neighbourhood boundaries. The discussion resulted in a number of motions to staff for review and follow up.

On February 25, 2021 the Neighbourhood Team submitted a report to the Committee of the Whole seeking additional clarity regarding the proposed adjustments to the neighbourhood boundaries in anticipation of broad engagement to be undertaken by staff. In its referral to staff, Council expressed interest in requesting input from residents on a variety of proposed adjustments.

The Neighbourhood Team staff now have more specific rationale regarding the overall intent, timing and logistics behind the proposed neighbourhood boundary adjustments and are preparing to consult with residents over the next few months on the proposed changes. Michael Hill, North Park's neighbourhood liaison, will be providing an update on the consultation plan on Monday, March 8 at the NPNA's public meeting.
