The Landcare Farming Program - Carbon footprint & Natural capital accounting workshops

What’s it all about ?

The Landcare Farming Program team will deliver a series of carbon footprint and natural capital accounting workshops nationally throughout 2021. We are encouraging producers to apply if they are  genuinely interested in knowing how carbon footprint and/or natural capital schemes will underpin industry/sector sustainability strategy reporting, future investment and potential new markets.

The workshops will include:
  • 25 carbon footprint workshops, with 10 participants per workshop (250 participants).
  • 25 natural capital accounting workshops with 10 participants per workshop (250 producers) and up to ten resource management experts for local support.
Workshop participants completing the training will receive a tailored property report, a comparison against industry benchmarks, and a personalised SWOT of their carbon/environmental account. Participants will have the opportunity to be accredited as natural capital accounting expert or develop their basic understanding of trade carbon if interested, each opening up potential new income streams for regional groups and landholders.

Come clean, go clean!
There are 13 priority cacti species in the North West of New South Wales. Hudson pear (Cylindropunti pallida) is one of these species. It has invaded over 100,000 hectares in Lightning Ridge and surrounding areas.

We would like to understand what motivates and what prevents people form all over the state and country, from doing activities that can stop the spread of cacti through the north west region of New South Wales (NSW) and beyond. The survey will help us understand what it is travellers need help with when travelling through cactus infested areas but it will us identify what behaviours travellers are willing to do, to help stop the spread of invasive cacti through the North West and bordering regions and states of NSW.

Anyone can participate! To check out the survey go to NSLA website or click on the Start Survey button below.

For more information on invasive cactus in the North West region of NSW check out the 'Invasive Cacti Field Guide: Identification and control of invasive cacti, North West NSW'.
