  1. Apple Podcasts hosts 1.68 million podcasts as of December 2020 - of these, 59% are actively putting out new episodes
  2. There are currently over 41.9 million episodes published in Apple Podcasts, as of Dec 2020. In 2018 there were 18.5 million episodes published. This shows a quickly expanding catalouge.
  3. 37% of people in the US (12+) listened in the last month. Up from 32% in 2019. Apparently, this compares to 18% of adults in the UK (15+) listen on a weekly basis. Up from 14% in 2019. Adoption seems higher in the US than the UK!
  4. Proportionally, people in the 12 to 34 year old age group listen to podcasts more frequently than their counterparts.
  5. How do subscribers compare? The top 1% of Podcasts have > 3135 downloads within a 7 day period of release. Top 5% of Podcasts > 532. Top 10% of Podcasts > 229. Top 25% of Podcasts > 73. Top 50% of Podcasts > 27.
  6. In 2019, only 17% of podcasters recorded video along with their podcast.
  7. Rode is the most popular microphone brand in Podcasting (19%) with Blue in 2nd place (17%). The Blue Yeti (17%) is the most popular mic, with the Blue Snowball in 2nd place (9%)
