Shout out to our students who have handled the transition back to in-person instruction with care and consideration. We're thrilled to finally be able to welcome you back to campus.
 
The PTSA will hold a brief special meeting on Thursday March 25 @6.30 pm to elect parents to the School Improvement Team. We need 20 members present to vote and did not get enough members at the last meeting. Hope to see you there!

NM PTSA Scholarship

The North Mecklenburg High School PTSA is awarding scholarships again this year ranging from $500 - $1000 to seniors who have demonstrated exceptional efforts to enrich North Meck High and their community.

Applicants must:
  • Be an NMHS PTSA member (by the PTSA membership deadline of March 12, 2021.
  • Be an NMHS graduating senior with a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5
The scholarship award recipient must:
Attend their chosen accredited institution by the fall semester of their graduation year.
***The deadlines for the NMHS PTSA Senior Scholarship have changed. The PTSA membership deadline is March 12th. The application submission deadline is March 26.**

March is MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH!

For the entire month of March, North Meck's Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter will be holding a food drive. Please drop off any non-perishable food items to the labeled bins around the school. The drop off locations are the band room, the front office, the media center, J hall, and the auditorium. These donations will go to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Latino Youth Empowerment Summit (LatinoYES) is a community collaboration that provides access to culturally relevant information and resources to help you develop your college and career readiness, leadership, empowerment, and employment skills. It is a unique opportunity to connect with local Latino leaders and executives who are willing to share their success stories to help you. Informacion en Espanol.

AKA Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Psi Omega Chapter Scholarship - Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Psi Omega Chapter is offering college scholarships to minority male and female high school seniors within the Mecklenburg County area. To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5; and a minimum SAT score of 950 or a minimum ACT score of 18. In addition to the application, students must also submit an official high school transcript and an essay. The application and it's supporting materials must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline. Applications are available HERE. Deadline: March 19, 2021.
 
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority TTZ Scholarship - The Tau Theta Zeta Chapter-Pineville-Matthews would like to foster Sisterly Love and exemplify the ideal of Finer Womanhood by offering a deserving scholarship to a female high school senior. To be eligible, students must: 1). Be a female high school senior planning to graduate in June 2021 and enroll in college in the fall of 2021; 2). Be accepted to a four-year college/university; 3). Be a U.S. citizen and Mecklenburg County resident; 4). Have a minimum 3.0 GPA; and 5). Demonstrate community service/involvement. Applications (which can be found in Naviance) and all supporting documents must be postmarked by the deadline, which is March 19, 2021.

Baseball Interest Meeting

There will be a baseball interest meeting Monday March 8th, at 7PM on Zoom. Anyone interested in playing is expected to join. Make sure you have a NCHSAA physical completed before coming to workouts. There is a link below to the physical form. You can have this physical done at a CVS minute clinic. SAT Updates

The next test given at North will be in March 2021.

The PSAT that was scheduled for January 26 was cancelled. The College Board has put in place an option for students to submit an alternate entry application for the National Merit Scholarship Program by April 1, 2021. Students who submit the application by the April deadline, may submit an SAT score from any administration of the SAT between the dates of August 2020 – June 2021 or select to send their scores to the National Merit Scholarship Program (like they would to a college) during the SAT registration and administration process (IF they participate in the May or June SAT administration dates). The steps that students will need to take can be found on the National Merit website under the Resources tab- www.nationalmerit.org
