This March, Activ8 a healthier you!

Next week (20–26 March) we're launching Cancer Prevention Awareness Week, because we want as many people as possible to be aware of the steps they can take to reduce their risk of developing cancer, through making healthy lifestyle changes.

Throughout the week, we'll be sharing information based on our Cancer Prevention Recommendations, and encouraging people to build healthier habits with our new, free healthy living plan called Activ8: Eat Well, Move More. Activ8 will last for eight weeks, and you will receive delicious recipes, inspiration and step-by-step expert nutrition and physical activity advice straight to your inbox.

Our experts will also be on hand to help you get through the eight weeks, so if you feel like this is the plan for you, remember to Take the 8!

We'll be touch later in the week with more information on how to sign up, as well as how you can join in with all the Cancer Prevention Awareness Week fun.

Come find your Great Escape

Our graphic designer, Geoff, has been doing local, guided history walks for a few years but had to stop due to the pandemic. He shares in his blog how he helped people get out during the lockdowns, and why he converted his walks into easy-to-follow online guides that could be printed or read online. He called these 'Great Escapes' as that's what they were – a break from being stuck indoors, and great way to exercise.

New recipe, just for you

The start of spring has been a little bit chilly but Sarah Drabble, one of our nutritionists, has been having fun in the kitchen. This new dish is lightly spiced to warm you up on cooler days, and contains lots of spring flavours. Our deliciously simple chicken and sweet potato recipe is part roast, part casserole and only uses 8 ingredients. It'll give you a welcome boost of protein and more than four of your 5 A DAY.

GoPoolit – what's that?

We're introducing GoPoolit – a new social media platform that helps you support causes close to your heart in a small way – every day. Each time you post an image or video on GoPoolit, you can nominate WCRF to receive between 1p-10p per follower worldwide. The more posts you put up, the more money you can help raise for our essential cancer prevention and survival work.

> Sign up to GoPoolit now

Parents – we need you!

Are you a parent or teacher and want to help us create resources for children and their families? We’re producing new resources for children in primary school and need parents and teachers to volunteer to review our content to make sure it’s right for other families and teachers. If you would like to get involved or for more information, please email us at publichealth@wcrf.org.
