CHUMC WEEKLY UPDATE
Luke 12:15b,32-34:  "...life does not consist in an abundance of possessions. . . .32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Reminder for this week:
It's not what we have that matters, so much as what we do with what we have.  How can we use our stuff to make space for Jesus in our lives and live into the Kingdom God has given to us?

Council met this week and decided we would begin to offer In-person worship again on Sunday  March 21st.  We will continue to offer Drive-In and Online worship as well.  Please make the best decision for your health as to how you will worship with the Body of Christ each Sunday.  (Scroll down to see our worship services during Holy Week)

COVID Vaccination Help
There are several places doing COVID vaccines recently.  We know some folks may need assistance getting signed up online or need a ride to get a vaccine. If that's you or someone you know in the church or community  Brian and Laura Lipinski have volunteered to try to help you.  You can contact them at 540-828-6820.

DAYTON DAYS
We received notice that Dayton Days is being scheduled for Saturday, October 2.  We have until April 30 to confirm our intent.  This is a huge undertaking and lots of help is needed.

SOCIETY OF ST. ANDREW LENTEN BOXES
Each Lent we ask folks to collect their loose change to give to the Society of St. Andrew which works to fight hunger. You can pick up boxes at Drive-In Worship, in the church narthex, or contact Pastor Sarah to get a box. You can also collect donations in your own container to turn in at the end of Lent.   We also have Lenten Devotionals from SoSA  available at the church building.
Don't Forget the Building Fund
in Your Giving

When our Council met recently we discussed our budget and are able to give praise to God that financially our church is doing well.  This is due in large part to many of you who have continued to give faithfully to the ministry of our church.  Your giving has enabled us to support our church staff, to adapt to our new circumstances,  to keep doing God's work (both locally and through the denominational groups supported by our apportionments like UMCOR which does disaster relief), and will help us plan for future ministry!
We would also ask that in your giving you remember the Building Fund.  We have a wonderful facility which our trustees and council continue to work hard to care for. And one day soon we hope to give our building some more use than it's been getting!    In the meantime, we have some larger projects coming up for repair and upkeep of the facility that will not be cheap  (first coming up on our list will be to repair the ceiling in the sanctuary where the popcorn ceiling is falling down).  If you're able to give a little to the Building Fund it would greatly help with these upcoming projects.   Just put "Building Fund" in the memo line on your check OR select "Building Fund" in the drop down menu when you give online (Click Here to Give Online).
If you have any questions  please contact Pastor Sarah (540-209-7409) or Council Chair Grant Martin (540-560-4166)
