the perfect plan is the one you do

Hi <<First Name>>,

“I’m just taking the time to figure out the best way”

This is one of the most common phrases of my clients. They think it’s a good thing. It isn’t. It’s their perfectionism rearing its ugly head. Again.

Perfectionism shows up in different ways and this is one of its favourites.
PROCRASTINATION.

Why? It allows you to overthink things, to keep poking holes and slowing you down.

You know what you aren’t doing while you’re figuring it all out? The actual things you need to do to find a career you love.

The best resume? It’s one you can send in less than an hour.
The best networking strategy? It’s the one that has you communicating with people.

Notice how I wrote best, not perfect. You can (and will) make mistakes. It doesn’t matter. I know this from experience. As a recruiter, I’ve interviewed people with horrible resumes, I advocated for people who were sloppy and nervous in the networking meetings and I’ve HIRED people who didn’t have great interviews.

If you could stop trying to figure out the perfect way, what would you do today instead?

One thing you could do, is look at the 12 Weeks to a Career You Love group coaching program. I’m known for my work with perfectionists and my ability to (lovingly) push them out of this pattern. I have all the techniques to do it in a way that doesn’t leave you feeling like a fish out of water. We’ll start with a call (another action, check!). We’ll talk about what exactly it is you need to figure out, you’ll leave with a few ideas of things you can do and perhaps all signed up for the program.

Thanks,

P.S. Steve spent ages crafting the perfect resume.  The perfect email.  The perfect answer. The resume was overworked and didn't read smoothly.  The perfect email, never sent.  They perfect answer, he rambled through it.  It meant that he never got the offer or job he really wanted.  He always had to settle.  Until we broke this habit.  His resume got him lots of interviews.  His networking opened up all kinds of doors.  His interviews, he delivered perfectly imperfect answers and built relationships.  The results - a job with his top company making way more then he was before.  This is the type of results perfectionists get in the 12 Weeks to a Career You Love program.  To find out if it's what you need: http://www.saracurto.ca/groupcoachingprogram.html
