Adventism 2021You've probably been there, looking around a room full of people who all seem to know each other. They're laughing and chattering, while you stand awkwardly to the side wondering how to fit in. The host walks by with a tray of snacks, and you immediately offer to take over so you finally have something useful to do. "No, no, I've got it," your host replies. Bereft of any way to connect or contribute, you step back into the shadows and wonder why you ever came in the first place. You just want to leave. |

| These We BelieveDavid J. B. Trim ”Almost every organized Christian denomination has a set of doctrines and associated practices, which it has corporately agreed to and which distinguishes it from other Christian churches and other religions. The Seventh-day Adventist Church is no different. Where many other Christian denominations adhere to a strict creed, Adventists take a more flexible approach, with what we call our Fundamental Beliefs…” |

Adventist Church Continues to Advocate for Religious Protections in LGBT Civil Rights Legislation"While the Seventh-day Adventist Church firmly believes that everyone is created in the image of God and should be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect, the church remains concerned that the Equality Act as drafted would further erode the religious liberty of faith communities and their members. As currently written, the legislation makes no allowance for communities or individuals of faith who hold traditional views of marriage and gender and fails to provide essential religious liberty protections that would allow a diverse and essential group of social service, humanitarian, and educational organizations to continue to thrive. The Last SupperThe second in a series by Pastor Jana Lee (pictured with her husband Adam). She is the Family Ministries pastor at Meadow Glade Church This time last year, life was pretty normal. There was some awareness that a health crisis was looming, but it seemed so unlikely to have any great effect on my own day-to-day life. Then, about one week later, everything changed, seemingly on a dime. Looking back what would I have done differently, if I had known? |

Pathfinder UpdateDear Pathfinder Directors & Staff, Ten days ago, we here in the Portland area were dealing with a winter storm. Several hundred thousand people lost power and were cold. The conference office lost power and has a couple hundred trees that are either damaged or are down or we are needing to take them down. It represents a significant amount of work trying to get everything back to normal operating conditions. And the campus at Gladstone will never look exactly the same. |
