COVID VACCINE UPDATE!
Talk about good news! On the heels of a KNWA/Fox 24 News report in which John Newman was interviewed, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced on Monday that people with intellectual or developmental disabilities are moving from phase 1c to 1b and are NOW ELIGIBLE for the vaccine. Given that change, Life Styles is hosting an onsite Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic in conjunction with Community Pharmacy of Springdale for all clients and staff on Wednesday, March 17. We're so grateful to Community Pharmacy for helping us protect both our employees and the people we serve—so we can continue delivering the best care possible.

New Life Styles client and Springdale resident Jeremy Johnson is bursting with excitement for the future and the many things he hopes to experience at Life Styles. To start, the ambitious 29-year-old is looking forward to completing his GED, landing a job (his dream is to work at Walmart), and picking back up with Special Olympics once the Covid-19 pandemic subsides. “It doesn’t bother me to get shots. I’m excited for the vaccines so I can go out and do stuff,” Jeremy says. Until then, this active young man is keeping busy and fit riding bikes, walking in the parks near his home, and tossing footballs with friends. And once he’s vaccinated, we’re hoping Jeremy will have the chance to celebrate at Silver Dollar City: He loves riding the roller coasters and personally recommends the (two loop!) Powder Keg there. “It’s fast. It’s awesome. The best ride I ever had,” he says.

Relentless cheerleaders for their daughter Serah, Mary and Mike Jeppsen have themselves built a grateful and enthusiastic fan base within Life Styles by their consistent willingness to go above and beyond in supporting our organization and its mission. For example, Mary and Serah delivered a moving Keynote speech at the Celebration Of Possibilities Luncheon several years ago, and the family has donated a week’s stay at their Florida vacation home to the Polo In The Ozarks live auction to help raise much-needed funds. More recently, when the Covid-19 pandemic hit last spring, Mary and Mike—both licensed therapists—hatched the idea of conducting a one-hour Zoom workshop on Coping With Covid for all Life Styles Launch students. We simply adore the Jeppsen’s enthusiasm, creativity, and positive outlook, which have enhanced our organization in so many ways.
