The adoption of the Small Business Friendly Councils charter at the March 10, council meeting was a significant statement supporting councils ongoing commitments to the small business community of the Mackay region. We were pleased to welcome the Queensland Small Business Commissioner, Maree Adshead along with representatives of the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce to the charter signing ceremony following the council meeting. Becoming a Small Business Friendly Council acknowledges many programs that council already runs to aid and benefit the business community and we look forward to continuing our working relationship with the chamber along with other industry groups within the Mackay region.
Council has launched the Activate My Place! (AMP!) program of grants to reimagine and reinvent public spaces. AMP! aims to empower communities to create places where people feel connected, resulting in more engaged communities, thriving local economies, and an enhanced quality of life. Previous years projects have produced the mural on the Slade Point water tower and the reinvigoration of Fifth Lane in Mackay City Centre. Grant applications close on April 16.
If you need assistance with your grant application or have any business based query please do not hesitate to contact council’s Economic Development team on 1300 MACKAY (622 529).
