Hello MAM Community,

During the March 23, 2021 Special Board Meeting, the MPS Board of Directors approved moving forward with the Administration’s recommendation to offer most students a choice between a mostly in-person or a fully virtual learning environment.  This approval was accompanied by a lengthy amendment which requires some further clarification which we are expecting soon.

A survey will be pushed out by Milwaukee Public Schools on which families will indicate their learning environment choice/s for their child/ren.  It is VERY important that you complete the survey when it is deployed. This survey is how your preference will be recorded and it will be used to help us further plan how the school day will look for all students of Maryland Ave. Montessori.

In the coming day or so please be on the lookout for more detailed information from MAM, the MPS survey link and an invitation to attend a Community Information Session to be held prior to spring break.

Please know that our staff is working collaboratively to create a plan that fits the needs of our MAM Community within the framework provided by Milwaukee Public Schools.

I realize you may be reading this hoping for more; we are being very cautious to only share the most accurate and up-to-date information with our families. As information is available you can expect that those communications will be shared via The Weekly E, at mpsmke.com/maryland and School Messenger.

We thank you for your continued support and grace
as we make this transition, together.

Our official Spring fundraiser is here: The Jaguar Jog!

Join us for our first-ever Jaguar Jog: 5K Run, 1-Mile Lower El Run, and 1-Mile Family Walk. To be held this May, this virtual run/walk is a safe opportunity to get outdoors for some exercise, compete for prizes, take home an exclusive MAM T-shirt, and show your school pride.

The cost to participate is $25 per participant, with a max of $100/per family. If, for any reason, you feel that you cannot afford the registration fee, please use coupon code JOG4FREE for completely free entry. You will still receive the T-shirt and be eligible for all prizes, and your use of the coupon code is anonymous.

All proceeds will benefit the MAM Fund, which supports school enrichment programming and teacher classroom funds, and spearheads special projects such as the creation and maintenance of the rain garden and new playground.

We are the Maryland Avenue Montessori School Fund and we are looking for new members. We are a working board dedicated to enriching the education of children attending MAM by supporting programs that enhance the educational community and support the mission of MAM. We fund programs and projects for which public funding, at such time, is unavailable.

The Fall Giving and other events allow us to support programs and projects, such as Urban Ecology Center trips, First Stage Trips, FoodRight program, Rain Garden Maintenance, Principals Picnic and others.

Our board meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 PM, virtually at this time. Please email fundmam@gmail.com for more information or for a link to our April 19th Meeting.

Thanks!

MPS: Summer Academy Applications:
High School (English )

Elementary and Middle School (English

*Families who already receive FOODSHARE benefits will have the P-EBT added to existing cards.

*While the distribution of these funds has NOT begun ALL MPS students automatically qualify for P-EBT (because we have been virtual and our district offers universal free lunch) but there may be a SHORT application for families to fill out at the end of March/Early April.

THE SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING for your family to qualify, we just have to wait for the MPS system to 'talk' to the Department of Health Services and DPI systems.  You may receive a letter in the mail instructing you when the mini-application is open or a white P-EBT card may arrive in your mail.

If your child receives free or reduced price meals at school and has been learning virtually this year, you are eligible! You will need to apply for P-EBT via an online application that will be available April 7. Check back for a link to the application.

As SOON as that mini application is live I will add it to the Weekly E
