Healthy Lamoille Valley Diversity Statement

We at Healthy Lamoille Valley, a program of the Lamoille Family Center, are reaching out to our coalition and community to voice our commitment to culturally competent work and to intentionally do our best to dismantle the racism that is deeply rooted in Vermont, our country, our lives and systems. We unequivocally stand with our People of the Global Majority/BIPOC community and neighbors and commit to using accurate language when addressing racism and white supremacy in Vermont. We support Vermont based initiatives to recruit, retain, support and elect People of the Global Majority/BIPOC leaders into roles of leadership and expand racial equity among all people.

Parent Cafe Series:
Skills for Creating Open Communication

April 1st, 4:30 - 5:30 pm

Next Up on Healthy Lamoille Valley's Spring Parent Cafe Series In this presentation, Rob Cary from Lamoille Restorative Center will discuss a few basic skills that can be utilized to help foster open communication. Open to all Lamoille Valley parents with children in grades k-12. Building upon a foundation of restorative practices, we will learn about Active Listening, OARS, and the 10 Roadblocks to communication. We will then discuss how these ideas can apply to our personal and professional interactions. We know that understanding comes through open dialogue, and when we apply practices that enhance communication, we create space for us to truly understand and relate to the other person. Rob's presentation will be followed by an opportunity for group discussion with other parents from around the region. Register in advance and view the full list of sessions at www.healthylamoillevalley.org/parent-cafe-series.

It's National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week!

National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week®, or NDAFW, is an annual, week-long, health observance that inspires dialogue about the science of drug use and addiction among youth. It provides an opportunity to bring together scientists, students, educators, healthcare providers, and community partners - to help advance the science, so that we can improve the prevention and awareness of substance misuse in our own communities and nationwide. Learn more on the NDAFW webpage.

Test your knowledge about drugs and drug use by taking the interactive 2021 National Drug & Alcohol IQ Challenge quiz!
