Redbridge in Bloom

Spring is finally here and it's time for our annual gardening competition! This year's competition is dedicated to our amazing health service. Whatever your level of gardening expertise, help us spread a message of love and hope `In support of the NHS’ by creating your very own rainbow garden. Fill your front gardens with pretty flowers bursting with all the colours of the rainbow.

There are five categories to choose from, plus a special schools category. Deadline is 5 July for residents and 18 June for schools, so there's plenty of time to get involved!

Redbridge's first 'Tiny Forest'

More than 600 trees have been planted in South Park as part of a partnership between Vision RCL, Earthwatch Europe and Redbridge Council. The Tiny Forest will provide an oasis for wildlife, connect people with nature in their local area, and help us understand and tackle some of the issues faced by urban settings.

Over the coming years Earthwatch will collect data and assess the benefit of the South Park Tiny Forest. Alongside the help of the local community they will use this site to monitor carbon absorption, flood mitigation, thermal comfort, and biodiversity, as well as measure environmental and social benefits gained.

Scrutiny in Redbridge

Scrutiny Committees provide independent examination of policies and decisions about local services through locally elected council members who represent Redbridge constituencies. They aim to improve services by questioning service delivery, monitoring performance, and making recommendations before the decision-making process.

The next Overview Committee is coming up on Monday 19 April. Overview Committee has responsibility for pre-decision scrutiny, they can consider items on the Forward Plan in advance of Cabinet and question Cabinet Members on their reports.
