Are you an expert legal 'hub' organisation? If so, we'd like to find out more about your work.
An evaluation of our Strengthening Civil Society (Law for Social Change) programme in 2019, highlighted many successes resulting from the connection of expert legal ‘hub’ organisations to civil society organisations (CSOs) tackling discrimination and disadvantage through service provision, advocacy and campaigning.
We know that there are many more expert legal organisations out there working in this way. We are hoping to map these organisations across the UK to help us deepen our understanding of the space and inform how we can develop and grow hub models of legal action.
How are we defining 'hubs'?
Our definition is a civil society organisation that:
- has specific and demonstrable legal expertise relevant to their social change goals;
- offers expert legal information, advice and / or representation to civil society organisations; and
- collaborates to:
- support others to recognise when, where and how legal action can be an effective tool of social change; and/or
- use legal action to achieve social change.
How are we defining social change?
- changes in policy, regulation and law;
- changes in behaviour, attitudes and norms; and
- new ways of designing and delivering services or support for individuals.
