Alvin's Story

Alvin is from a single parent household and his father has a life-threatening disease that is growing progressively worse. Thanks to a referral from his teacher, Communities In Schools has provided Alvin and his family with tools and resources to help him grow, build confidence and succeed.

CIS Receives $30,000 from State Farm

Communities In Schools of Indiana recently received a $30,000 grant from State Farm to continue its work of providing comprehensive support services to schools and individual students.

Indiana schools will return to full-time, in-person school in the fall, Gov. Holcomb says
(via IndyStar)

[March 23, 2021] "..Holcomb also announced that the statewide mask mandate will become be rescinded starting April 6 but will remain in place for schools through the 2020-21 school year. 

He said that state education and health officials will work on recommendations for safely operating fulltime in 2021-22 school year. The state made safety recommendations for schools to reopen this year, such as social distancing in classrooms and cohorting students, but did not mandate any precautions outside of mask wearing."
