Standing Together Against Hate

Our Yu Ming community is outraged and heartbroken over the disturbing rise in Anti-Asian hate in our country, including the horrific act of racist violence that culminated in the deaths of 8 people in Atlanta on March 16th. Six of the victims were Asian and all but one were women.

Since March 2020, about 3,800 racist incidents against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have been reported, an increase of more than 150%, with women representing a disproportionate number of victims of hate incidents.

Our Yu Ming community stands together united against hate, xenophobia, misogyny, and racial and gendered violence. We commit ourselves to deepening our understanding and awareness, centering those most marginalized, learning our histories, telling our stories, and taking action to dismantle racism and xenophobia in all its forms.
As an intentionally diverse, Mandarin immersion, public charter school, Yu Ming's core mission calls us to foster a cross-cultural, diverse, and inclusive community, nurturing the global citizens who will contribute to making a more just and equitable world.

The centuries-long legacy of structural racism in our country has been further revealed by recent events. Let us seize this moment to continue to create change in our institutions, our communities, and ourselves.

In unity and hope,

Yu Ming Primed for Reopening

Our Distance Learning Center, open since October, has served small groups of students on campus.
Yu Ming is scheduled to open our doors for hybrid instruction to all of our grades starting on April 12th! This much anticipated reopening comes after months of facilities preparation, monitoring health guidance, piloting instructional best practices, and regularly consulting with families to ensure all of our students remain connected and learning.

Following State and County guidelines, stable cohorts, classrooms set-up for social distancing and proper airflow, health screenings and surveillance testing, are all part of Yu Ming’s reopening plans.

We are thrilled to welcome our students back to campus, and if the recent on-campus playdates are any indication, so are they!
