Call for Questions

Do you have any questions you would like answered about Egypt and/ or Squash?!

Brooke Herring and Jay Herring have been training in Egypt for a few months now and will answer some questions for next month's Slice at the end of April! (They're still there btw!)

Can you spot them in the picture?!

Please think about it, and send me your questions by replying to this email or click the button below.

I look forward to getting your questions!

ps: I can't spot them in the picture above 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it's also just a random picture from the final 😂
I have a Question!

The Squash Summit

The first Squash Summit took place March 5 and 6 this year via Video Conference
It was deemed a success so you should expect another one next year.

Movement and Diving Practice

We are hopefully going to have the chance to do some drills in the next month if all goes well! People have had various levels of activity, but really not many of us have had the chance to actually play squash. It is great if you've been keeping fit or getting fit! however; the bottom line is that we ultimately need to play squash, to get better at squash.

So here are some tips on ways you can prepare to get back on court!

1. Dust off your racquet and start remembering the swing and add a few lunges to go along with it

💰📢🗣The video below is one of my favorites because it shows the progression of something that seems so simple, yet it can be so powerful if you really take the time to focus on it.

These drills will help with improving spacing, balance, and swing efficiency, among other things!

2. Get ready to Dive

If you have a hard time with the final step of your swing, you might want to consider diving! 😂

Check out the Video below to see some EPIC PSA Dives! and keep reading to see how to practice them

p.s. #2 is meant as comic relief

Planning on adding some dives into your game- here's how you could practice! 😂

3. Check out the Challenge of the month below!

I have created a challenge of the month for January, February and March at my club.
Please send me your scores if you decide to do some! I will create a ladder board once I find a good platform and I will create nicknames (or you can create your own) so people are more willing to share their scores!

4. Solo hit and use a ball machine if you have access to one
If you are a member of Cedar Hill Squash Club, you have FREE access to the ball machine. (Monthly solo, household play, and lesson memberships are open to the public!) Email me if you have questions.

The ball machine is a great way to practice hitting an oncoming ball (that you didn't hit to yourself) which is the main difference from solo hitting.

This allows you to practice your shots + movement (from the T or back of the service box for return of serve).

Solo hitting is still a great way to practice to perfect that swing and reinforce good racquet preparation. It is a great way to hit a lot of balls in a short amount of time and you can practice almost every shot!

⚠️ However, it is easy to start getting too close to the ball and a bit upright so be aware and maybe video yourself so you can see what you look like!

👍📢If you need tips on how to practice certain shots or using a ball machine google it/ youtube it and feel free to ask! I am happy to arrange distanced lessons or chat online!

5. Watch Squash!
Get a SquashTV subscription or find videos on YouTube! Search your favourite player or find someone who looks like you (height, speed, style) and see how they play against other types of players.

CIB Black Ball 2021

We were so fortunate to get some live squash the last two weeks! The quality was amazing and hope it gets you excited to get back on court!

Are they too challenging? not challenging enough?

I have been giving away 3 squash balls to 4 random participants.

What would you like to see as a Prize?

Do you have some great ideas for challenges?
Maybe we can make it city-wide?
Racquet as a prize? pack or beer? ice cream sandwich?!
