This opportunity is thanks to council’s Activate My Place! (AMP!) placemaking grants which are now open.

We are looking for ideas on pop-up installations, community gardens or events that showcase the region’s unique community.

From the Chambers
meeting update

Yesterday’s ordinary meeting of council started on a sombre note, with condolences expressed for the family of Norlea Ramsamy, who died recently aged 103.

Affectionately known as Nana Ramsamy, she was the matriarch of one of Mackay’s leading indigenous families.

Mayor Greg Williamson said council was working with the family and Queensland Health on plans to have the funeral at the MECC because it would be a “very large funeral”.

Finch Hatton trailhead
master plans released

A trailhead is a place where you start and finish your mountain bike adventures which contains facilities that support riders.

Council has developed three proposed master plan concepts for the primary trailhead to be located within the Finch Hatton township – they are now online and open for public comment.

The concepts were developed in consultation with valuable input from internationally recognised trail experts, World Trail, as well as key stakeholders involved in the Pioneer Valley Mountain Bike Trials projects.
