Something for the Weekend!

Weekend Drive with The Guv'nor! SFTW Video

Welcome to another Spring Something for the Weekend 26th March 2021.

We've had some gorgeous weather down in Staines-Upon-Thames and I don't know about you, but Spring has finally arrived and I think we all appreciate the sunnier weather. I've had the Lynchy Local Delivery Vehicle out & about (aka Renault Twizy EV) & crammed it full of new goodies to talk about this week.  So here goes...

Icom UK have kindly shipped us our first delivery of the
AH-705, a matching end-fed wire auto-tuner for the IC-705. You might of heard of the IC-705, (!!) it's a small compact box that is a complete shack in your hand, almost. Back to the tuner, it's palm sized, covers 1.8-55MHz & runs on internal batteries. Neat little jobby & we've still got a couple left in stock.

Next up is another gadget from
DVMega, the new "Globetrotter". This tiny device works in tandem with their BlueDV & allows you to communicate from anywhere in the world with a simple internet connection. They've just arrived and at £139.95, it's got to be worth a play.

If you've been thinking of investing in a new Antenna Analyser, don't know which to choose but want the best, have I got a deal for you. We had a large commercial order for the top-of-the range
Rig Expert AA-1400 and bought a few extra, so we could offer you the same bargain price supplied to a government establishment. This portable professional analyser covers 100kHz-1.4GHz, 1kHz frequency entry, can handle 25/50/70 & 100Ohm impedance systems & employs a readable in-daylight colour display. Want to buy an analyser for life? This is the one to consider. Usually £1259.00, we have just 3 at £609.95GBP.

In the old days, if you wanted a patch lead you had to make it yourself. A lot of you still do, but if you are not a dab hand at soldering or have the right tools to make your own - never fear, Lynchy's here! Ready-made sets of most configurations and sizes from my own MyDEL brand, (anyone know what MyDEL stands for? Let me know and win a freebie or two), or from our Italian coax & connector supplier, M&P. If you can't see what you want, give my sales guys a call and the workshop will quote for any bespoke cable/connector combo you require.  To view the range, click

Talking of Yaesu, the super-compact
FT-891 & FC-50 Bundle is the ideal station for home, mobile or portable use. It's compact dimensions produces 100 Watts on HF&6m, (in my day a Yaesu FT-480 was actually bigger and produced only 10W on 2m) but still gives you big rig performance. If you buy an FT-891 & FC-50 it'll currently set you back £916GBP. Too much I hear you say? How about £869.95GBP for both then? It's Spring after all.

Hands up those who purchased a
Yaesu FT-991a? Fancy one of those Yaesu SP-10 matching speakers so you can enjoy the great audio the rig can actually produce? £155GBP is steep I agree and even at £109.95, it's a tad rich. How does £94.95GBP grab you? If you're thinking of buying a new FT-991a, after £90 Cashback from Yaesu, you'll be able to buy the matching speaker for under a fiver!

The
SunSDR2 DX is our current favourite 100W HF/6m/2m SDR Transceiver for under £2k. In fact we've reduced it still further because those clever lads at Expert Electronics did us a very favourable deal if we bought a few extra. Just £1899.95GBP will ensure one of these compact babies will be delivered to you posthaste.

TyT MD-380UV - Is still the best value DMR dual-band handie on the market. At under £85, this really is bargain of the month.

Want to sling up an antenna that's already assembled straight out of the box? The
DIAMOND WD-330 DIPOLE is a 2-30MHz Folded Dipole that requires no tuner and is only 25m long. That's 83 Feet to old duffers like you and me. In stock, £214.95GBP

That's about it! No me next week I'm afraid, going in for surgery on Tuesday so it'll be Tony doing the honours. Rumours have it the surgeons are figuring out how to remove my wallet from my back pocket, but I'm not going to comment.

Until a week or so from me, don't forget to tune into the Gaz & Jono Podcast Show on
Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pocket Podcast & more. Our Saturday Lynchy Webcast will be LIVE from the store with Tony, and next week's SFTW video from whoever puts their hand up. Stay safe and keep playing Ham Radio.
