Go deeper this week...

This week in Kidzchurch we investigated the final "I AM" statement of Jesus when he said that He is "the True Vine". 

If you'd like to go deeper as a family this week why not try out some of the following:

For the littles: Make the cloud and rainbow craft here as a way to summarise and think about all the different "I AM" statements of Jesus that we've been learning about.

For school aged kids: Play a game of spoons. To play you will need a pack of cards and a spoon for each person bar one (ie 5 players will only need 4 spoons). Shuffle the cards & give each player 4 cards, the dealer keeps the pack to their right. Simultaneously, everyone should take one of their cards and discard it to the person on their left. Then everyone picks up the card to their right (or in the dealer's case they pick it up from the pile). This is repeated until someone has four of a kind. When this happens they grab a spoon. Everyone else has to grab one too and the person who is the last one with no spoon has lost!

In order to play this game you have to get used to throwing cards away that might have seemed valuable to you. It isn't always easy to stop things or pass them on, but Jesus talks about us needing to get rid of unfruitful things
in order that we can receive something better from him. Read this passage from John 15.5.

For tweens and teens: As we come to the end of this series, spend some time asking God what he might be
saying to you. In line with this passage of scripture you could spend time asking God what he wants you to stop or prune out of your life in order to bear fruit in other areas. Pruning is hard but so important if we are to be the people God calls us to be. What are the fruit from your own life? You may want to look up the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5.22-23 to start.
