This monthly email is simply to keep you updated on activities, milestones, and fundraisers for the Zion Youth grades K-12.
ELEMENTARY
Packets: For two Sundays a month, packets will be provided to kids to continue faith formation at home. The ones for March are available in the church office for the whole month. The materials, along with a video reading of the story and musical selections will be available on the Zion Youth Facebook page on Sunday morning.
In person: The Education committee will be hosting in-person Sunday School on the first Sunday of the month in the Fellowship Hall. One table will be provided per family group to promote physical distancing, and masks will be required. Our next in person Sunday School time will be Sunday, April 11th at 9:45 am.
ONE MORE! Join Saundra for our last story and activity from 5:30-5:50 PM in the Fellowship Hall. We’ll read a story and do an activity related to Lent/Easter before the Wednesday evening Lenten service, and we’ll finish in time for the service (and send the kids with an activity sheet to work on). Can’t make it by 5:30? No problem! Join us when you can.
Open to pre-K – 5th grade kids.
Pastor Erin will meet with fifth-graders and their parents on Sundays during March for First Communion classes. The tentative plan is to hold classes online over Zoom. We’ll gather together on March 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 10:30 AM.
Fifth-graders will receive their First Communion at the Maundy Thursday worship service at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 1.

The Education Committee is working on plans for Vacation Bible School (VBS) for this summer. We'll let you know when final decisions have been made!
MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL
Your friend, Chad, has been having a rough year, and he is definitely on Santa’s naughty list. Your plan is to travel to the North Pole, break into Santa’s Workshop, SAVE Chad’s Christmas, and escape without getting caught! Join us to see if you can escape from the North Pole. Plans have been made to attend Church on the Street in Sioux Falls on Saturday, August 14th. We will go down on Friday, stay overnight, worship, and return home Saturday evening sometime. If your child is interesting in attending, please talk to Saundra about fundraising opportunities.
CHURCH ON THE STREET FUNDRAISER--If your child is interested in attending Church on the Street in August, we would love to have them help with this fundraiser for the event. Contact Saundra for more information about scheduling and duties.
DID YOU MISS THE MEETINGS? The ECLA Youth Gathering will be held July 24-28, 2022 in Minneapolis. If you have a 7th-11th grade child, they are eligible to attend. If they are interested, please talk to Saundra for more information about the event and about fundraising. The commitment deadline is Sunday, September 5th, but if your child knows they want to go before then, please let Saundra know so they can participate in fundraisers.

The Youth Committee is working on plans for a youth room update, and Pastoral Assistant Saundra is working on plans for a middle school youth group and a high school youth group. We're also working on fundraising and fellowship opportunities throughout the summer, in addition to a new Zion Youth Instagram page. Stay tuned for more information!
Holy Week bags will be available for kids and families beginning on Wednesday, March 24th. These bags will be handed out during the Kids Time with Saundra and available for anyone not able to attend worship that night. Kits contain fun activities to help observe Holy Week, including a delicious recipe (ingredients included) you can make at home!
