Everyone had gone to such a great effort with their wacky hair and red clothes that Mrs Muckalt created a catwalk for WOW worship. The sun meant that it was the first time all the children have been able to safely be together in one place since March 2020! We had a great time!
There is still time to donate to Comic Relief using the button above.

What has been happening in the classroom?

We have had another busy week in Puffins. This week we have continued to look at 'Just imagine' and we have drawn a huge under the ground picture on our tummies, we have used wheels to make marks in the sand and we have written about the animal we would like to be. In phonics we are recapping all of phase 3 and in Maths we have been looking at 3D solid shapes. As always we have had lots of fun playng with our friends outside this week the sand and water have been very popular. Have a super weekend Puffins and well done on all your hard work this week.
This week we have been getting back to basics and making sure we have nailed capital letters and full stops! We practiced this by writing a letter to a zoo which had lost a tiger! It had escaped, and we know where it is! We are pleased that the tiger has now gone, we just hope it has returned to the zoo and hasn’t gone to eat someone else’s food! We have also been having lots of fun sorting shapes and making patterns with shapes. In RE we have been learning about the symbols used at Easter time. We learnt about the symbols on the paschal candle and then created our own candles with pictures and symbols to represent our own lives. In our challenges this week we have been sketching daffodils, sewing patterns, adding and learning the names of letters in the alphabet. And other busy week! I hope you all enjoy a well earned rest this weekend!
This week, the children have dived into different texts in English, reading them carefully, answering comprehension questions and discussing the author's message. In maths, they have been working on multiplication and division facts. Our Year 4 children have also begun learning how to multiply 3 numbers together.

The children have continued to enjoy the Challenge-6 PE programme and this week, they were concentrating on skipping and throwing skills. They have also run the mile-a-day, every day, with many children running increasing distances.

Since the return to school, Mrs Cunliffe and I have created lots of opportunities for the children to collaborate, talking and working together. We will continue to do this. We are also making the most of the good weather and spending as much time outside as possible, away from the screens of lockdown! This week, we even had a grammar lesson outdoors.

Next week, the children will be taking part in a Cricket workshop on Wednesday morning, so they will need to wear their games kit on Mon, Weds and Thurs please. As last term, reading books will be changed on Mondays to allow for a period of quarantine before being reissued.

Thank-you,
Mrs Burgess and Mrs Cunliffe

We have finally seen some signs of spring this week as the crocus bulbs and some of the daffodils flowering have begun flowering, this has enabled the collect some data and send it to The Edina trust as part of the climate monitoring project.
In maths this week we have been practising how to multiply and divide fractions of amounts. Next week we will start a unit of work on measurement and converting between SI units and imperial measures. One task which would be useful for the children is to calculate how many litres and pints of water are needed to fill an ordinary bucket.

In English, the children we will be developing their questioning techniques and considering the benefits of open and closed questioning as they attempt to become journalists, collecting information to support their report writing.

Next week there will be an Easter egg competition for the best decorated Easter egg, If the children do not want to test their beautifully decorated eggs to destruction during Friday's egg rolling, they could bring an ordinary hard-boiled egg to school.

There will be swimming lessons as usual on Monday, so children can come in their games kit, and musical instrument lessons on Thursday / Friday.

Enjoy your weekend -
