Dear Tallis family
I do most sincerely hope that we are in the last phase of lockdown. The length of the pandemic has taken its toll on everyone. Our experience in school is marked by the extra stresses that children and adults are experiencing and it would be lovely to think that we were nearing the end and that everyone’s efforts have paid off. Warm weather and a bit more freedom would be very welcome. However, we must bear with it until the end and I remain very grateful for your support.

With my sincere thanks
Carolyn Roberts, Head
Don't forget to read the latest blog post in Mrs Roberts writes, a regular column about school life.
This half term's Tallis Habits focus is disciplined. The return to school will give us an opportunity to really focus on the discipline of crafting and improving, reflecting critically and developing new techniques for understanding the world so that we can change it for the better. Thank you for everything you are doing at home to support our work.
BAME Parent Forum
The BAME Parent Forum will be having a zoom meeting  on Friday 26 March at 18:00. All parents of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students at Thomas Tallis are encouraged to join. The meeting will be hosted by Donna Riviere (BAME Parent Forum Lead) and Charmaine Jean-Paul (BAME Coordinator at school).

In the meeting we will explain some of the work to further our commitment to anti-racism at Thomas Tallis as well as listening to your voices as parents of our BAME students. Your perspective is unique and we are keen to know how you feel we can better support BAME students. We will be to responding some questions you may have.

Should you already have any questions that you would like us to respond to during this meeting please email Donna and Charmaine at cjean-paul@thomastallis.org.uk.

Word of the Week – Idiosyncratic
Our next whole school Word of the Week is idiosyncratic, an adjective meaning ‘unique’ which has Greek roots. Please encourage your child to use the Word of the Week in school and beyond - and also to celebrate their own idiosyncratic personalities!

RBG World Book Day Competition
There is still time to enter the Borough-wide creative competition launched for World Book Day. There are lots of possible options to choose from, whether you want to write, draw, create or even bake. The winner will receive prizes for themselves and their school. The deadline is Friday 26 March. It would be fantastic if the winner could come from Tallis! Please see the flyer attached for more information and how to apply.
