The eastern side of the divided had a slight improvement after the mid - March snow storm. 32% of Colorado is still in extreme drought conditions, even after the snow storm. Future forecast is for below normal moisture and above average temperatures.
Wildfire Awareness Month May 2021

The CFSY is not having a Wildfire Awareness event this year due to the uncertainty of group gatherings in May. This doesn't mean you and your neighbors couldn't do a neighborhood event to further reduce the fuel loading in your neighborhood.

Other good maintenance items in May are:
  • Move all firewood thirty feet from the house into Zone 2
  • Remove all pine needles in Zone 1A
  • Remove organic matter that has accumulated on your vehicles
  • Take photos to document changes in vegetation growth
  • Review your maintenance plan for 2021 that you developed in the fall
  • Review your grab and go items
  • Update contacts and meeting location for an evacuation plan
