Sunday is census day

This Sunday is census day. The census is an important survey that helps us to understand our residents better and shape services and funding to suit them.

If you feel that you are Cornish you can identify as such this year. Simply select ‘other’ under nationality and type ‘Cornish’.

As soon as you’ve received your pack and code form the ONS in the post, you can go online straight away and complete the census.

Shielding Residents

If you are shielding and have not yet had your Covid vaccination, you can book your jab online here or by calling 119.

If you don’t have your own transport, Age UK and Volunteer Cornwall may be able to help get you to your vaccination appointment.

Cornwall Council is continuing to work with partners in the health and voluntary sectors to support all clinically extremely vulnerable residents in accessing food, essential supplies and wellbeing advice during the lockdown.

If you or someone you know is an unpaid carer over the age of 18 who isn’t already known to health and care services, they can now book their covid-19 vaccination. They can contact the National Booking Service at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by ringing 119 to complete a short application to determine if they’re eligible to book their appointment. There are spaces, available so don’t delay booking your slot.

iCare iMove

With the further easing of restrictions from the 29 March, many of us will be looking forward to getting out and about more.

But for some older members of our community, lockdown has led to reduced levels of activity and they may need help to regain their confidence and build up their physical stamina again in a safe way.

From April, iCareiMove will be offering free weekly live online sessions to support older adults to improve their mobility and increase strength and balance, as well as help them to move around more safely and give them confidence to be more active.
