WCD exists to serve Winnipeg and beyond through the creation and presentation of contemporary dance. Our work gathers people together to share, appreciate, and contribute to the
development of contemporary dance.
Body & Light

This month we are thrilled to share new images from Body and Light!

We are really excited about this show, the first full-length work for WCD by our new Artistic Director, Jolene Bailie.

Body and Light are themes that have come back to me daily during the Covid-19 pandemic. With so many questions encircling me every day, two things became constant. We cannot escape the body and we need light. Whether that light is the light that is inside us, or it is experiencing a sunrise or a sunset, or it is finding light when there is darkness, or it is simply a concept that can assist to move forward.”  - Bailie

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WCD is unable to present this show in April.

We are working to reschedule Body & Light to May; all tickets will be carried over for the new dates.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate these unprecedented times.

WCD: Class at Home 2

Free! Online and on-demand!

WCD has created a second free online class! WCD’s online class is made possible with a Safe at Home grant from the Government of Manitoba. Geared towards advanced and professional level dancers, the class is created as an option for dancers to train at home during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Two versions of the class are available.

One version (ABOVE) has a breakdown and teaching of each setting.

The second version (BELOW) moves at a much quicker pace, offering the option to run class.

Open for Rentals
We have returned to taking rentals at The Rachel Browne Theatre!

All rentals must follow government recommendations and public health orders.

If you are looking for space right away, we have rental space available some evenings, weekends, and weekdays throughout April and May. Our space is also available for rehearsals and with no tech. Minimum booking of three consecutive hours is required.

Venue specifications can be found HERE.
