Dear Supporter,
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as the Chair of the Bonner County Democrats’ Central Committee for the last four years.

Last night, the Committee voted in a new slate of officers who have begun serving their two-year terms. It is my pleasure to welcome:
Linda Larson, Chair
Rachel Castor, Vice Chair
Lisa Barth, Secretary
Gail Bryan, State Committeewoman

Thank you to Jack Peterson and Jennifer Brandenberger for staying on as State Committeeman and Treasurer, respectively.

I look forward to this new team leading us to victory in the midterms and beyond.

May I take this opportunity to thank all the people who worked so hard to make our mission a success.
First to the folks who put themselves out as candidates: Steve Johnson, Ellen Weissman, Steve Lockwood and Kate McAlister. Many hours of hard work went into their campaigns and we got our message out and showed our presence in the community. We need more folks like them. Also thanks to the “place holders” for keeping the ballot safe.

To our Central Committee Officers:
Thank you to Bonnie McDade, outgoing Vice Chair and Communications Director. What a wonderful addition to our group. She was able to bring us all together and kept us up-to-date with her wonderful newsletters and email announcements. She updated our website -- even though that wasn't her favorite thing to do. Bonnie also orchestrated bringing our “Democrat Guiding Principles” up to date. Under her guidance, our Committee was able to put together a great representation of who Democrats actually are and not what others say we are. Thank you, Bonnie.

Maggie Mjelde and Linda Larson served as secretaries, without whom we couldn’t function. Maggie continued on as our Facebook administrator while also working as an elected member of the Kootenai City Council. Linda was also our VoteBuilder coordinator, Lead Precinct Captain and trainer. What would I have done without you ladies?

Thank you, Jennifer Brandenberger, for taking on the job as treasurer. You dragged us into the 21st century -- sometimes kicking and screaming! What a great job. Always dependable. We’re so happy you agreed to stay on.

Lee Christensen has been our State Committeewoman for some time. She has always been a stalwart supporter. She was our Treasurer for a while, against her better judgment, but she did a great job and we couldn’t have done it without her. Her kindness, her consistent willingness to help out, and her ever-present smile has helped to make us who we are.

Jack Peterson has been our State Committeeman for a while now and we do appreciate his reliability. I’m sure Gail Bryan will be happy for your mentoring.

A huge, huge thank you to Ken Meyers for staying on as a Precinct Captain and most appreciated as a member of the Executive Council as ex-officio member. Your guidance was invaluable. When I came on board, I was as ignorant as can be and without your experience as past chair, Ken, it would have been a difficult ride. Thank you, Ken. Now you can take a well-deserved rest - but don’t go too far!

To all the volunteers:
Remember all those great parties and fundraisers we had? All are attributed to the hard work of Judy Meyers and Maggie Mjelde. We fortunately had many hands to help out, but without their planning and guidance, we could not have done it.

I send my thanks to everyone who contributed to our success, big and small. To Shirley Kolm for taking over All Hands Arizona, collecting clothes and shipping them for the refugees. For everyone participating in our fundraisers, coming to our parties, phone banking, text banking, and writing hundreds of postcards and letters to the editors. For putting campaign signs out on your lawns, marching in the parades, working in the fair booth and more -- a job well done!

To our Precinct Captains:
To our precinct captains, what can I say? This is about the most important job on the Central Committee. The need to identify our voters is uppermost of importance and without the PCs it would be nearly impossible. Thank you, thank you to: Linda Larson, Rae Charlton, Susan Bates-Harbuck, Jim Ramsey, Reny Rose, Vera Gadman, Chris Bishop, Steve Johnson, Ellen Weissman, Ken Thacker, Janet Pultorak, Maggie Mjelde and Ken Meyers.
MOST OF ALL FOR COMING OUT AND SAYING “I’M PROUD TO BE A DEMOCRAT.”
Best wishes and thanks, again, to all!
In Solidarity,

Sylvia Humes, out-going Chair
Bonner County Democrat Central Committee
