Abandoned Tender and Trailer Silent Auction

Members are now invited to put a bid on the 11 dinghies and 4 trailers in the abandoned section on the dirt lot 7303 past the new carpark. These are marked numerically.
Please inspect and place your bid across the bar. Dinghies 1, 3 and 8 have a reserve of $180, $180 and $100 respectively, the rest will go without reserve.

All items must be removed from the DBCYA premises once obtained, or stored appropriately (dinghies in the racks or on the beach or trailers on the dirt lot - only one of each allowed on-site per member if displaying an authorisation sticker and DBCYA member number).
Auction closes 5pm Wed 14 April. If two or more members are present at the club and bidding on an item at close, bidding for that item will continue between those parties until a highest bidder is reached.

Did you know …

The mud crab on our nationally and internationally recognised DBCYA logo was chosen many decades ago as a symbol of the club’s inception - forming amidst the muddy mangroves (before any land reclamation in the area). The neighbourhood and the club have developed over the decades but our ethos to be a valued sailing facility and community hub hasn’t changed.
Before the advent of the pontoon and wharf in the 90s, members used to wade through a last section of mud to reach land, coining the term ‘Dinah Gumboots’.

Kerbing to stop slime build-up at the careening poles

Every wet season water leaches out from the poles basin north wall and creates a slippery surface across much of the concrete basin. As soon as the area is dry enough, a kerbing strip will be installed parallel to the wall (from the boat ramp stormwater pipe down past the careening poles) to guide this water away from the concrete. Poles 1 and 2 are temporarily out of commission until this new safety feature is installed.

Leukemia Fundraiser / St Patrick’s Day

Well done to ‘Tales of the Tinny’ Rob Smith who hosted his fundraiser here at Dinah recently, with everyone having a ball dancing to Hotel Red. Rob and all who contributed raised over $11K for charity.

McCarthy’s Lore Irish band and the Irish Dancers put on a grand show for the many who turned up to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

Introducing a new sailing initiative to get sailors out on the water doing what they love best.

This handicapped one-division, six-race series will be run in similar fashion to the Wet Season Race Series, with courses set around the Darwin Harbour under the simplified rules of racing. $20 per vessel to participate, with cash and liquid prizes.

Race Dates and information. First race is Sunday 18 April.

Sign-on is the Friday prior at 6pm. Or you can register online.
