Now that we have only one week left until golf is relaunched, it is time to get things sorted. Thing One and Thing Two, to be precise. And Thing Three, just added.
Thing Oneis our AGM, which will take place on March 24 at 6pm. It will be held in a virtual manner, i.e. from the comfort of your sofa. It means you will never run out of drinks and snacks. All you have to do is register for it here and you will receive an email with a link to participate with your computer (recommended) or with your smartphone.
There will be short presentations by the committee in form of a webinar. It means you will be able to hear and see everything, but your microphones and your camera will not be in use, as we need to keep the sound clear and the live video limited to the committee.
The usual voting will go ahead for the budget and the new committee composition. For this purpose you will be able to submit your choice right from your screen. Results will be shown on your screen moments later.
If you have any questions during the presentation, you can type them in on your screen and send them off. The committee will be able to see your questions, read them out loud and provide answers wherever possible.
As this is new for all of us, there will be a trial session on the day before, Tuesday, 23rd, at 6 pm. Some dummy presentation will be held and you can try out how to ask questions and how to vote. Any connection issues can be discovered and solved. This will give us confidence for the actual event. Please register here for the trial event.
Thing Two is all about our competitions, and in particular how to sign in on the day and how to pay entry fees.
Competitions are now on Masterscoreboard and you book them as usual.
On the day itself, for a while at least, there will be no handling of cash and the touchscreen will not be activated.
Hence, you can now only sign in and pay your fee using Masterscoreboard!
Before your round, go to Score Entry on Masterscoreboard. By selecting the relevant competition, the right tee and your name, you sign in and at the same time your entry fee is automatically taken from your competition purse. This relieves our treasurer from the tedious task to book everyone's fees manually.
Note 1: You will be denied to sign in if your purse doesn't have enough funds. You can always see your balance under My Golf on Masterscoreboard. Make sure you top up your credit in time, using the bank details below.
Note 2: You can sign in from home before you leave. You can also sign in from your smartphone just before you start. And you can also sign in others or be signed in by others if anyone has forgotten to do it. Best check with your group on the first tee and make sure everyone has signed in.
Note 3: Should the competition be cancelled, all entry fees will be refunded.
Note 4: Once you signed in, the system will also tell you your playing handicap for the day. No more looking up decimals! Simples!
Note 5: You can also sign in for a general play score of 9 or 18 holes on any day. What you need is a marker, a measured course (any of our regular tees will do) and obey the Rules of Golf.
After your round, and in any case before 6 pm, go to Score Entry on Masterscoreboard again and submit your score (like last year). You will be asked who your marker was, in case there were any questions.
After 6 pm, all cards will be compiled by the organiser of the event (normally the captain), potential questions answered, the competition will be archived, results published and winnings assigned to the worthy winners' purses.
Thing Three is the club's new bank account, for payment of membership fees (not before July) and for topping up your competition purse.
Whatever funds you send, make sure to mention your full name and purpose, e.g. Tom Hanks purse to up.
