Welcome to April. Our team hope that you and your family had an enjoyable, safe and relaxing Easter break. Today (Tuesday 6th) means our young people have an extra day off for Easter Tuesday and this means that our team are happy to open The Hangout Youth Centre from 12pm - 5:30pm today.
Throughout last month our team were kept on our toes developing programmes, running programmes, supporting schools with the Year's 7 & 10 camps, professional development opportunities, operating a busy Youth Centre and more.
Just when we thought March went by quickly; April is going to absolutely zoom by with only a couple weeks left of term then the Autumn Holidays for the final two weeks of the month. Our recent Autumn Holiday Programme went 'live' and even with extra spaces on the activities - thanks to our new 12 seater van - we still managed to book out up to 90% of spaces within 48 hours; which is incredible.
It has also been extremely humbling to have recently received grants for purchasing outdoor equipment thanks to Sports Otago/Sports New Zealand Tu Manawa Fund and Macpacs Fund for Good. This supports our goal of eliminating barriers for all youth and families so they can partake in our programmes without the pressures of having to provide their own gear. We also have some more exciting news which we cannot wait to share in the coming weeks.
