March 2020
This month, we are sharing Simon's flight story
In December 2020, Jennifer contacted Give A Mile to request a flight for her son. Simon, her middle child, was attending Western University in London, Ontario at the time and was diagnosed with severe Achalasia that required immediate surgery.

Jennifer made several trips out to Ontario to support Simon (doctor appointments, extensive tests, etc.). Simon was booked for surgery in early December and mom returned to London, Ont. - unfortunately, COVID conditions resulted in a cancellation and re-booking of the surgery.

The family requested a flight to be able to have Simon return home post-surgery. The family had exhausted their resources and could no longer ask for the support of their extended family.

On December 21, 2020, Give A Mile provided a flight so that Simon could recuperate at home and be with his family for Christmas.

'Give A Mile delivered. We were able to have Simon home, support him in his recovery and be together as a family after such a difficult situation. Thank you Give A Mile!'- The King Family

Give A Mile  500,000 Mile Campaign to Connect Families Using United’s Miles on a Mission Platform was a Great  Success!

On March 1, 2021,  Give A Mile launched a 28-day campaign to raise 500,000 United MileagePlus miles through United’s Miles on a Mission platform. The goal for this campaign was to raise enough miles so that Give A Mile could provide 20 or more flights this year in the United States.

Goal Met in Eight Hours!

“Having recently achieved our charitable status and commenced formal operations in the US, this was an important campaign for us,” said Kevin Crowe, founder and CEO of Give A Mile. “In a little over eight hours, our generous supporters donated 634,615 miles!”

“This is really about giving the gift of a final goodbye,” Crowe said. “All of us have lost someone we love and can relate to that, but I think it’s resonating even more with COVID because so many of us are not able to be with our loved ones in the same way.”

Give A Mile has continued to provide flights of compassion during COVID, working with recipients to ensure compliance with health regulations.

“Such an amazing result!  The campaign with United’s incredible Miles on a Mission program is going to jump start our work in the U.S. and help us make an even greater positive difference,” said Crowe.
