Briscoe Night of Artists!

I am so excited to be participating in an actual live auction. This Saturday is the first live auction I've participated in since the world came to a halt a year ago because of covid. I will have three paintings at The Night of Artists show at The Briscoe Museum along the San Antonio river walk. Sunlit Respite will be auctioned off live at the museum (and simultaneously online if you’re bidding from home), the other two, Respect Your Elders and I Got Your Back, will be auctioned off in a silent auction (you may also bid on these by absentee bidding form). If you’re interested in bidding, click here for all the details.

Sunlit Respite

I don’t have a lot of art hanging in my home, but this painting- Sunlit Respite- is an all time favorite and I was able to hang it in my home for several months. I had planned to keep this one forever. The deadline for the Night of Artists snuck up on me this year and I desperately needed a fantastic painting for the show, so I reluctantly entered my favorite one. If I had more time, I would have gladly kept this one and painted something else for the show, but what can you do 🤷‍♂️ Hopefully there are some art collectors out there that  are willing to show this painting some love.

Respect Your Elders

Last summer I took my car in to get it safety inspected. While I was there, I met Felix this kind-hearted, soft spoken, tiny old man that became my model for this painting. After I left I found out that the car wasn’t due for a safety inspection for another few months 🤦‍♂️ but if I hadn’t had gone to get it inspected at that exact time I never would have met Felix. It was meant to be.

I Got Your Back

I saw the model for this painting years ago in a photo on Instagram. Ever since I saw her photo I wanted to paint her. It took me a few years to track her down and in 2020 I was finally able to photograph her. Not only is she a terrific model but she has a bunch of great kids and she’s teaching them Crow traditions and keeping their heritage alive.

This is me with my wife at an auction a few years ago. Auctions always make me nervous. It’s always nerve-racking to have something you’ve poured your heart and soul into to be auctioned off over the course of a few seconds. The Briscoe has provided a bunch of ways to get yours bids in, including their website, by phone and their easy to use mobile app.  Please show my paintings a little love if you’re interested.

Hope to see you soon,

Jeremy Winborg
